Ever have to use your weapon?

My pistol is an IWI baby eagle .40 chambered for the Smith and Wesson round. Love that configuration, lots of punch without the excessive kick.

I looked at baby eagles, it was one of my choices! lol thats funny, nice gun

springfield was the other but thats when its new line first came out and i had one jam on me, now it was a range gun rental so probably very dirty but it just turned me off.

Mine will jam if I don't oil certain parts for a while, or if I'm just a little off on centering the slide, but it's a pretty forgiving gun. It was based off the Jericho which was based off of the CZ platform, I prefer to use military grade weapons only because they are meant to be solid, and have a low failure rate which is important to me if my life ever depends on it. Springfield arms are usually terrific, I'm thinking they didn't take care of that rental, which is a shame, if their business is facilitating the shooting sports that range should take the utmost pride in their weapons.

I've had to produce my weapon in the past, fortunately I didn't have to fire or unholster and the aggressors got the message.

Same here. Amazing how un-eager some people are to assault armed won't-be-victims.

Yep. Once was in defense of a third party, once was a declaration of defense, and the third time was a scumbag road rager, his buddy talked him back into the car when he saw me reach for my weapon. In all three there was no further incident and no one got hurt.

Yes he went to prison. I believe his sentence was 5-7 years. It was a little more than 30 years ago and I still worry about running into him once on a while - less now - as I know he's in his 60's now. He worked for my father on the ranch, had been fired and ordered to leave. I was specific about the 125 yards because it was later measured. His defense used that he just fired up into the air, but the bird shot lodged in the wood of the door way I was standing helped make that out a lie and he fired more than one shot - several - and was actually hunting us. My brother and I. When the deputies arrived he was on the edge of an orchard next to our poultry ranch. He was pointing the gun towards the orchard and dropped it at the demand of deputies who got a rather "damning" utterance out him like "I'm going to kill those xxxx's" which also helped them convict him. Also while in prison he was involved in something that earned him another 10 years - I believe it was an attempted murder but I never looked up the details. He was out at 11 years total and then went back for 3 more after he looked up my brother on the first day we was able too.

shoot at them with what, when, why and where, its not that simple.

Im surprised he went to prison for shooting a shotgun at people at over 125 yards.

Maybe its my ignorance of shotguns but what was the chance of harming them at all at 125 yards? im "guessing" it was actual shot

again NOT defending his actions at all!!! lets be very clear about that, just surprised that if there wasnt other factors (we he was at, prior record, resisting arrest, illegal gun etc) in play that he didnt get off or manage to get something less than prison.

Being on the wrong end of an unreasonable grudge is a mighty hard thing; my sympathies.

It absolutely is. Guns, knives, sticks, etc... those are just tools. The real weapon is the mind.

Of course, having the right tool for the job is also important. The best mechanic in the world is going to be very limited if he lacks effective tool

The thing is....I think too many are locked into the denial of reality thing.
Violence is not something that is gradual. It happens faster than most would ever believe possible.

yes..I have used my weapon...I shot my husband...

awesome! thats great that solid work and his own stupid mouth assured he got charged and went to jail :D

I live in a state where any kind of carry is illegal. If there's a situation where one would break the law, carry and use, or threaten to use a firearm against an attacker, they would take the ride as well.

I am just curious if anyone has ever HAD to use, or threaten to use their firearm, and if the police got involved, what happened?

Outside of work I had to threaten to use my weapon before, never mentioned it to the police, never heard a word about it.
