Unlike streetwalkers almost none of Escort Service providers are exploited,

Backpage CEO arrested on sex trafficking charges | Fox News

Authorities said the state's three-year investigation found many of the ads include victims of sex trafficking including children under the age of 18.

The department said the investigation was prompted in part by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which reported 2,900 instances to California authorities since 2012 when suspected child sex trafficking occurred via Backpage.

Pitiful horndogs who cant get laid without paying for it will always find a way to rationalize their despicable habits, even if it means ignoring their own contribution to the trafficking of underage sex slaves

Escort Services providers charge men $400 to much more per hour mostly for intimate services. Unlike streetwalkers almost none of Escort Service providers are exploited, and every country has law against exploiting sex workers. Escort Services provide enormous physical and emotional benefit for lonely men. Most men would feel embarrassed to support decriminalization of Escort Services for that reason, but why?

Unfortunately in some countries, buying sex and in some cases selling sex is illegal. In most US states, both acts are illegal since mid 20th century. In Sweden since 1999, South Korea since 2004, Norway since 2009, Iceland since 2009, North Ireland and Canada since 2014, and France since 2016 buying sex is illegal. In all formerly Socialist countries both selling and buying sex was illegal during most of Communist reign. In Russia, it was outlawed in 1918 and the law was "forgotten" in 1980s. In China it was outlawed in 1949, and the law was "forgotten" in 2000s.

In USA the ban on selling and buying sex is diligently enforced. Even though #notallpolicedepartments reported their data to FBI, for the districts reporting in 2012, 25,000 providers and 11,000 customers have been arrested. According to a 2006 MSNBC article "A consumer guide to prostitutes is a click away", David R. Elms has set up an Escort Service review site which in fact helps customers avoid Law Enforcement. By 2006, they were not able to prosecute him.

Maybe someday many states will legalize Escort Services.

I voted both should be legal, i may not like it but ive never read any legit reason keep it illegal.

Does anybody have any?

Having any sexual relationships with people under 18 is already a crime. People who have consensual relationships with adults do not contribute to anything.

If it's regulated then no pimps and traffickers exist under the regulations.

That is a nonsensical article of faith, and like most faith-based beleifs, it has nothing to do with reality

The fact is that, even though it is a crime, there is a HUGE demand for a prostitutes services. if it were legal, demand would be even greater. Since we are not an impoverished country, there are not enough females desperate enough to do that work. The excess demand, and the higher prices that result, are an incentive for unsavory types to import women who *are* desperate (ie sex trafficking)

I am sure the people who make use of such services will be concientious about making sure their providers are over 18

And I am just as certain that the sex traffickers will refrain from trafficking minors for fear of getting in trouble with the law.

When it comes to prostitution, feminazis are more religious than Christians.

Almost always -- the vast majority of people would not risk prison and lifetime registry as a sex offender.

Currently both customers and providers are "guilty" of a misdemeanor and are not put on Sex Offender List.

It is semi legal in Canada.

The illegal part is communication in public for the purpose of and operating a bawdy house. Along with pimping being illegal.

So bringing one to your home or hotel is legal going to a brothel is not

Among Americans, 45% people believe it should be illegal to buy sex, 39% people believe it should be legal; 43% people believe it should be sell to buy sex, 40% people believe it should be legal.

Thus The Majority is for Prohibition. But who knows how public opinion will change.

Well I guarantee that "majority" has no logic reason based on legality, rights, freedom or saftey and it's simply based on thier personal feelings and wanting to force that on others

The litmus test is: Does it increase the number of abortions? If it increased the number of unborn babies killed by abortion, it should be unlawful.

So among many things you want to outlaw I'm guessing you wan't to outlaw premarital sex, sex for any reason other than to procreate and alcohol too?

The will of the majority is the law. In Pakistan a man who burned Koran in public was going to be executed by hanging. But The Majority did not find it fair that he should get off easy so they burned him.

Winston Churchill in 1947 said:
democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time

The will of the majority is the law.
That is factually not true
It CAN happen that way but your statment is factually false.
How well did it work for the majority when they didn't want women to vote or be equal? How about when the majority didn't want to allow interracial marriage?

Now please do not think I am comparing those things to legalizing prostitution, I certainly am not I was just giving two examples when the majority didn't mean **** and it should't. Thats not how a democratic republic works and thank god for that because we would have less freedoms and rights and we could all find yourself under the tyranny of the majority.

In 1997, the War on Drugs was at its peak -- only a few hippies did not understand that there would be no chance for legal marijuana in some states.

I have no idea what you're trying to say there.

If I vacuum a room for my neighbor for a fee and that's fine, NOT a crime.
If I vacuum a room, while I'm naked, for my neighbor for a fee, that's not fine, it's a crime
If I vacuum a room, while I'm naked, for my neighbor for a FREE, that's fine, NOT a crime.

I am willing to bet that in most places, getting naked for money is not a crime. It is the sex part that has been made criminal.

I'm in favor of decriminalizing sex workers, but not their customers...

If you don't decriminalize the customers, then from whom does the legal sex worker get their work?

The litmus test is: Does it increase the number of abortions? If it increased the number of unborn babies killed by abortion, it should be unlawful.

Correlation/Causation Fallacy. You first have to show that the Abortion increase is actually from the sex workers. If abortions go up, but there is no rise in abortions from the sex workers' field, then you have no justification to make sex work illegal.

The vast majority do not want to have sex with a child, but that still leaves a large number who do. And experience shows, since having sex with children is already a crime and we have trafficking with children, that keeping it illegal would have no effect on the demand

But even if legalization completely eliminated the trafficking of children, it would still encourage the trafficking of adult women, which is despicable

In UK and Finland buying or selling sex is legal, but buying sex from a trafficked person is a strict liability offense. Many women are willing to make money in Escort Services voluntarily. Statistics about trafficking seem to be greatly exaggerated.

Crown Prosecution Services said:
In 2014 in UK there were 1,139 victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation, while victims of labor exploitation (1,017) and domestic servitude (278) were 1,295 combined. In April to June 2015 labor exploitation was 253 and sexual exploitation 248. Domestic servitude was 115.

Legal Escort Services provide enormous benefit to tens of millions lonely men in most Europe, NZ, Australia.

Escorts are too expensive in the US. Who in the hell wants to spend $500 for one hour? If prostitution is ever legalized, I think the borders should be open to lower costs.

A very excellent post! probably agree 100% or t least like 95%. I feel basically the same way, while I may have my own personal feelings towards it based laws, rights, harm, society etc I can never come up with a good reason to keep it illegal. Why are most other forms of physical labor completely fine but not sex acts? Porn is legal but not independent unassociated personal contractors? While I may frown on it, it just never made sense.

That just doesn't add up. If I gave sex away just to make people feel good it's legal, but if I charge a dollar it's a crime? It's just a very weird thing to me. I say legalize it and regulate it to its core. IMO this would make it much safer, cleaner and help cut down on the related crimes and activities that are currently associated with it.

The really really insane thing is that (in most states I think) it is perfectly legal to produce, film and sell a porno that includes actual sex, and pay the actors for same.

Um, derp??

WTF is the difference? The only one I see is that a third party is paying both participants and filming, rather than one party paying the other without the film.

For one to be legal and the other not is utterly insane.

That did always strike me as a strange double standard

"Can I pay someone to have sex, in the most degrading way possible, in front of thousands of people"

"Yeah whatever , its a free country"

"Can i pay someone to have sex behind closed doors?"

"No! what are you a monster!?"

There are plenty of people driven to sell drugs, steal, and do porn for economic ends/necessity , why would prositution be any different? Not to mention that many are trafficked for other legal activities (e.g working is resturants, growing food etc)

Actually in terms of human trafficking its actually the opposite. A man who suspects a woman may be trafficked will be less likely to report it if he is incriminating himself. Hence why a number of human rights organisations condone legalisation in order to reduce trafficking (notably Amnesty International)
