Employees Terrified of ICE Raids Are Failing to Show Up at Work

You are confusing 2 issues. The people Biden let in aren't here illegally.

you cannot believe that - millions flooded across the border illegally under Biden - fact

It is a good idea to stop the practice of hiring undocumented immigrants,
good, lets get Congress to vote on heavy penalties or if/when Trump starts dealing them out support them, right ?

but giving them a path to legality rather than deporting them is cheaper, more humane and much more effective.
No rewards to people living here illegally and working illegally no

Deport them and they can come back later using the proper legal immigration system (that does need revamped I agree)

You are allowing them to illegally be in the country, and employers can pay them less because they know they can't complain because they get deported if they get caught. Is'n't that the same as supporting that policy?
Overall, the food and farming industry leans right and donates primarily to the GOP. Republicans demand dirt cheap labor and they help import illegal labor by inaction rather than draft legislation to legally obtain foreign labor which is not only a political loser, but also a financial one because food suppliers would then have to pay fair wages, insurance and benefits in which the cost of food would rise exponentially. Trump‘s dog and pony show of rounding up scores of the illegals, It’s all for theatre.
Need you be reminded that Trump‘s towers in New York were built by illegal labor. That was intentional on Trump‘s part so he could avoid paying them overtime. Hundreds of illegal workers were paid $5 an hour working 12 hour shifts to build his properties. Same as his Florida resort. Trump doesn’t give a **** about illegal labor It’s merely a dog and pony show to entertain you people.

If they were allowed in because they are seeking refugee status, which they did, then they are not illegal.

They are, at best, a fraction of the millions of undocumented immigrants in the workforce.

The policy of deporting them is absurdly expensive, inhumane, ridiculously expensive and requires federal agents roaming neighborhoods and workplaces demanding people show them ID.

There is no practical reason to do it.

Maybe xenophobic regressives can fill the labor gaps.
The younger ones will be signing up for the rapey felon's ME war, the older ones can work the fields and restaurants.

and a secured border so the problem doesn't happen over and over and over

which Trump has done, which is very different than in last 25 years
Sealed for now, perhaps. We really don't know.

Those who want to get through, will. Like drug traffickers. If the border is truly sealed, to the point fentanyl and other narcotics aren't getting across, we'll hear about it. Opiate addicts will turn to prescription drugs and as a last resort, alcohol. We'd be able to see a pattern in use if this were to happen, not to mention word on the ground.

We may indeed have impeded fentanyl smuggling, but I think smugglers will simply adapt, as they always do. And if addicts turn to other substances, we haven't addressed the problem at all.

truthfully there are no undocumented immigrants

immigrants by definition are legally here - not legally here are illegally here people

and many don't work and they're certainly not in the fields picking your tomatoes and lettuce

curious - did you post/hate on Biden for deportations ? like, ever ?

Trump is making a massive difference and liberals HATE it. Why? Because they said a President couldn't do anything. That was a bold faced liberal lie wasn't it ?

Joe Biden was running the show, there were often over 10,000 encounters a day on the southern border, but last Sunday, there were a total of 95, the lowest number ever recorded over 24 hours
According to the Center for Immigration Studies, fentanyl seizures at the southern border are down 50% since November. A huge part of the reason for this is that without the cover of 100,000 illegal migrants a day, smuggling drugs gets much, much harder.

Less fentanyl coming into the country means fewer Americans dying of overdoses, a result that surely everyone should cheer.

Those of whom you speak wouldn't get out of bed for the sort of derisory wages the undocumented workers earn.
i wonder if they'll still start endless threads about the prices and availability of agricultural products now that they are the direct cause of the problems.

I don't care about liberals. Don't care what they hate or don't hate. If they hate fascism, then they're in line with many who aren't liberal. This is pointless.

My point is drug trafficking, which you immediately turn into partisan nonsense.

Joe Biden
Drug trafficking. Not Joe Biden.

You're not interested in serious discussion. Only partisan slop.

Nothing to say about drug trafficking? Do you think opiate addicts just shrug their shoulders and say, "Oh that sucks. Maybe I'll get high in 2029."

The border isn't sealed. Drugs are still getting through. Just keep consulting that Biden in your head. That'll get you through.

You mean if you're a company that's been hiring illegal labor and, effectively, cheating on your taxes you should be worried?

You don't say.
50% of the ag work force is illegal.

They work not because certain farmers want to cheat but because they need the labor, there is no one else to do it.

do you REALLY think judges are issuing warrants for kids ? if they are - point the finger at the judge and also ask what the kid did wrong
I Know ICE is going to schools. In some cases bring denied access.

And i know it is causing problems.

This has nothing to do withbthe post you're responding to.

... at those wages, yes.
Dude. You dont know what you are talking about.

WE are at full employment. Have been for a long time. There is NOT a pool of unemployed Americans sitting around wishing they could take those agricultural jobs if only it paid a bit more.

Seriously, think it through.

Face reality.

I understand the reality of labor markets better than most.

Apperantly not if you think there is a huge pool of unemployed Americans sitting around ready to move into ruaral areas and fill those ag jobs as soon as the wage improves a bit.

Sounds to me like you dont understand it all.

Your point is factually false.

18 year old kids in California can pick strawberries for $16.50 an hour or work at McDonald's for $20.00.

Perhaps it's human nature you're having trouble understanding.

There's more and more evidence that ICE is out of control now. Some of this might be in reaction to the "protests" with rocks and burning cars, but there's no excuse. https://www.latimes.com/california/...s-outraged-immigration-raid-pasadena-bus-stop

“when they asked the masked men to see identification, one of the men stepped out the unmarked vehicle and cocked his rifle toward members of the public.”

... an unidentified agent pointed a gun at a man seeking to take video of his license plate. The incident was caught on video by witnesses.

“The ICE agent jumped out of the car and pointed a gun as though he was going to shoot the young man, just for shooting a video of that license plate,” Chu said. “It’s outrageous.”

If by winning you mean cripple the farming industry then yes he is.
MAGAs function similar to cocaine monkeys. They will cheerfully cut off their own food supply to satisfy their addiction.

Monkeys have cocaine, MAGAs have racism. Equally powerful drugs.

On the other hand, the US has 10 million unemployed, millions in prison and on drugs or dealing with drugs.

Make these people pick the crops, in chain-gangs, like in the good old days. Especially the violent criminals and gang members. They have too much testosterone anyway, too much to do stupid and retarded things. Put them in chains and put them in the fields so they can do something productive, rather than plotting their next crimes in prison !
Great. Make the unemployed work in chain gangs. So you can lay off more people, and make them unemployed, and put them in chain gangs.

You know, with people like you in power, people in America are going to greet the People's Liberation Army with flowers. Flowers, I tell you.

No, I think I understand where you're coming from.
You understand little to nothing.

Markets are operating under a model that requires illegal labor. Interrupting the labor supply has serious consequences. The simplistic retort of "just raise wages" is naive at best, but certainly not indicative of any knowledge of market forces whatsoever.

i wonder if they'll still start endless threads about the prices and availability of agricultural products now that they are the direct cause of the problems.

Why are you acting like there is no such thing as LEGAL migrant workers?
