Everyone turn off your electronics for an hour so you'll feel better about "destroying the planet" the other 23 hours of the day!

Is there a set time for observance of this?

8:30 to 9:30 wherever you are in the world.

How will I know when to cut them back on if I have no way to tell the time?

Would it really be good for the electric grid if everybody on the East Coast cut everything off at the same time and then back on at the same time? I am thinking I have a patriotic duty not to, but I will think on it.

Let's face it - not many people actually do it because they realize it doesn't do squat.

Using your internet connection uses electricity.

Then why do you want us to do this? Personally I am more fixated on National Lost Sock Day in May and trying to come up with a way to appropriately honor the day. I am thinking a Prayer Breakfast with the POTUS and then maybe a parade to honor our lost heroes.

K, looks like I'm reading by Candle light tonight.

It really is a dumb idea and, as someone said, it doesn't actually do a thing. My computers are on 24/7 and certainly won't be shut off tonight for any length of time. Certainly, the power companies aren't going to turn off their generators for any silly event, neither am I.

Turn off everything during March Madness?

The planet can fist itself. Have it during May when there's not a sporting conflict.

You are all horrible people. Don't you care about our planet??!!11
