Overstay is not the same thing as illegal entry, and they are not part of the 2 million streaming across the borders.

Visa overstays are also not asylum seekers, but someone overstaying their visa may or may not be illegally hear for many more reasons than would apply to an illegal entrant. Someone who overstays can have several different kinds of applications pending that mean they get to stay legally until it is finally processed.

If the problem was just visa overstays, this would be a much simpler problem, because these people are in the system, with passports, visas, addresses, etc. It's not like we are just fine with visa overstays and nobody gives a shit.

Sounds fair. Martha's Vineyard contains mostly folks in the top 1% who do not pay their fair share of taxes, and are largely privileged white supremacist racists who unfairly benefit from a structural system built on the backs of black and brown bodies. Therefore, they should do their fair share, and take care of the illegal immigrants coming across the border, and at a minimum, they should welcome them into their gigantic homes with their outsized carbon footprints. Clearly, there is space in the villas and mansions of Martha's Vineyard, with their outbuildings and cottages, their spare bedrooms just waiting for family members who rarely come to visit, and certainly some of their extra rooms which aren't currently bedrooms can serve to house the illegal immigrants just until their asylum applications are fully processed. It's only temporary after all.
