Democrats don't understand what it means to be educated

Close to a trillion, yes. I'm surprised it's that much.

As far as college goes, the university here has been spending millions of dollars on expansion. A new College of Business building is under construction, financed and managed by a 3rd party. A hotel and conference center is also planned adjacent to business building. The revenue from the hotel is what the 3rd party is interested in. Tuition and fees remain reasonable at about $10k per year. A lot of money is being invested, and students have state-of-the-art facilities. It's quite attractive and affordable. The new buildings, dorms and sports facilities have to have cost 100s of millions over the last five years.

Some of the DNC voters are so educated, they can't figure out what bathroom to use.
This is how you say that you dont know human sexuality at more than a grade school (XX or XY) level.

A plumber I used before retirement never took a day or college or vocational school. He earns over $100,000. per year. I am not putting down vocational schools. I am just making it clear that not everyone needs to take advantage of them for a succesful career.

Is he accredited or licensed? It's difficult to qualify for those without specific classes on regulations, laws, even charges. Of course those are publicly available but still must be understood and submitted for certifications.

My plumber has 10 kids. They grow up working and apprenticing in the family. They have access to the licensing criteria...most dont.

No one's saying everyone has to have further education they have to pay for, we're discussing taxpayer $$ and the clearer paths to success and the cost effectiveness of those taxpayer $$ for that further ed.

I take that as a yes. I'll be sure to keep up the good work.

If my approval is important to you, you can always prove, in other threads, your actual understanding of grammar and reading. It's not a bet I'd take tho.

Is he accredited or licensed?
Accredited and licensed. We could not legally use him for construction projects otherwise.

I tghink most do, primarily through exams.

Even for menial jobs? How about garbage pickup?
What garbage pickup? My town of about 15K has one guy drive the automated truck around town for 2 or 3 hours every morning. (Different zones on different days) Then he goes off to do other duties for the rest of the day. We actually share truck with a neighboring town to help defer the cost of it…and their one guy does it on alternate days from ours.

There’s a total of 3 different types of trucks that go around: Trash, recycling, and then a “yard waste”. Each on specific days of the week. One of two people in each town man them and have additional duties.

Outside of major cities where there are more trucks involved, that’s the case. It isn’t a multi-person job: the machinery does it now.
Bus driving?
Pays about $20/hr here. Part time job. No benefits. School bus drivers. Always hiring - they can’t get enough people because not a lot of people want the job due to it being part time and not paying great.

Full time public transportation is government authority jobs and probably pay well, but they are not a lot of those jobs and those who get them tend to stay in them for a long time so it isn’t exactly a high need profession.
Fedex driver, etc.
always hiring. But also not a job that’s going to be around for very long. Fully automated delivery is on the near term horizon.

Distribution jobs aren’t long before they are fully automated in general - including the delivery aspect.
Many of them make a decent wage.
Some. But they’re all jobs that will likely be predominantly automated in the short term.
How about carpenters?
Skilled trades require a post-high school training and education here.
Not a high skill position. You can make a decent living as a roofer I guess…but it’s more of an entry level position in my opinion 🤷‍♀️. Not something someone wants to be doing for the entire life.
Earth movers?
Heavy industry is moving towards automation quickly.
Ever heard of journeymen programs
Yep. Good programs. I consider them to be post-high school education. Skilled trades typically require some form of post-high school education and training.
Perhaps I should tell that to the ladies at the alterations shop where I have my suits and trousers altered.
All of them? What are there? 2?

And yet...where do most get the information required for the exams? Not the practical, hands-on skills, but the legal, the business? Businesses need to be licensed and run within legal parameters...again, people can find this out...but when it comes to opportunities for everyone...we're discussing the benefits of further ed. If most vocational and trade schools are only state/privately financed...then wouldnt that be a good shift for some of the federal ed system $$?

How else do we plan and implement if we dont research and explore?

The Liberal's world seems to be collapsing around itself. President Trump has broken them. It couldn't happen to a nicer group of people. (but... but... but... Trump is a Nazi, convicted felon, racist and rapist. And he steals children's allowances! ) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Sonny Hostin may have unveiled the real reason why the Democrats lost the election, but she had it all wrong. She recently said on "The View," that "What we did not have is white women, who voted about 52% for Donald Trump – uneducated white women is my understanding."

One of the realities of why the Democrats lost this election in the landslide is thinking they have a monopoly on defining what being "educated" means in America today and here’s the reality of what this word means in America today. Let’s examine this.

click here to read... unless you are triggered by Fox News. If that's the case then here is your binky. :)

Being uninformed, or, worse yet, systematically misinformed, can be measured by consequences.

Trump voting areas during COVID died at 3 times the rate of everyone else. The cause was traced to all the rampant ignorance and misinformation in these populations. Tragic indeed. That's a pretty big price to pay to stay so proudly and defiantly ignorant.

Places that voted for Trump 3 times as likely to die of Covid:

In fact, the relationship between the percent voting for Trump and the death rate is almost linear:

Variables such as age were controlled for in these studies. That wasn't it.

The problem is that I DO know what it is, and that bullshit is heading out the window for good.

Listen to the racist female defending what you claim that we don't understand what it is. SDhe wants to continually go back to slavery and Jim Crow laws like the Libs of DP here.

"It is a multibillion-dollar industry that pushes a left-wing, far-left ideological orthodoxy in essentially every area of American life, which is why I've begun to call it the DEI enterprise, instead of just DEI, so that people have a sense of what I'm talking about,"

F-. You failed again.

You also failed in telling me the name of the position many college educated graduates couldn't spell.

Failure is your life. We get it.

Not so petty to those who are raped in bathrooms by those claiming to be a woman, pr to those who have to be perved over in the gym restrooms by females with penises.

Predators need to wait for privacy to commit such crimes...they always have. They do now, they do in multi-sex restrooms. Nothing stopped them in the past...and cis-males will still attack women in women-only bathrooms. Where is your data saying there's been any increase?

How turned on do you think a cis-male, forced to appear/act more like a woman, in order to "pass" and then commit rape, is going to be? That takes some of the power out of it, dont you think?

The right has fear-based tunnel vision on this. Such limited thinking.

College can be a tool, a means to an end. Just because you have a dental drill doesn't mean you're a good dentist. Likewise, just because you got a fancy piece of paper in exchange for $200,000 of debt doesn't mean you're smarter than someone who didn't.
Intelligence and education are totally different things, just like talent, experience, and persistence are different things.

Also, one mistake people on the left are making is thinking that an education or even a powerful intellect are a sure fire defense against bad viral ideas.

As evidence, I offer Jordan Peterson, who is very smart and very educated but also stuffed full of bad signal.

That was then, this is now.

And $100K isn’t exactly a “high” income in 2024. In fact, it’s very much working class and would require at least 2 working parents in most families in many areas 🤷‍♀️
Depends where you are. If you're in Tucson, it's pretty respectable. If you're in San Francisco, not so much.

It doesn't matter. It was a very easy name to spell.

It matters if you use it as the focus of a post and then suddenly you are unable to remember the word that was sooooo feckin impactful in your life.

😂

If Trump created a virus that only killed college educated liberals the economy would actually improve. That's just how useful these college educated liberals really are.
Nazi talk.

That is one of the most dishonest posts I have ever seen. You think there's a reason that scientists are disproportionately liberal? Why do you think right-wing fascists want to shut them up?
I agree. It is also one of the most unobservant. Liberals are the ones studying science, math, engineering. It would seem that conservatives have actively ignored the fact that high paying jobs require eduction and get some themselves.

But starting in the 70s Conservatives listened uncritically to people like Rush Limbaugh and Phyllis Schafly tell them that public education was destroying the family, making communists out of students, promoting non-christian beliefs in the curriculum and teaching that America was evil. Without checking the districts curriculum, observing in their child's class, going to school board meetings and questioning school personnel they believed what AM radio told them and refused to respect the local schools, teachers, curriculum, superintendents, school boards etc. The children of conservatives especially the boys have suffered the consequences. Their hostility toward education and the educated despite the obvious; earning a middle class living in a job that gave some satisfaction, required education. These are the people that now find themselves uneducated, unhappy and accusing the educated of dismissing them.

This situation is not the fault of educated liberals. And it wasn't liberals that told them education was evil.

Your link not read. No excerpt. You know the drill.

The job title was latte maker.

See above. Some spelled it late

If someone studied ants all his life does that make him an intellectual elitist liberal?

I cannot think of one single sentence that better demonstrates the uneducated's lack of understanding of education.
Think harder then. I have faith that you can do it. When you are done, let me know why someone with a degree in myrmecology, DEI, anthology or women's history is any better than a machinist or carpenter. I know you can do it.

Who used “better”?

That’s your projection or personal insecurity or something.

The topic is about being educated.

This is silly semantics. In elections, when one says educated voters, they are making a demographic reference to voters with a college degree.

It's like referring to young voters and then some jackass writes an op-ed arguing that Democrats don't understand youth while they argue under 60 is the new youth.
