Trump was not voted in by the people of California to police their streets. Only fascists vote for the federal government to police the locals.

We have this thing called federalism. Nobody but fascists vote to dissolve the Constitution.
 

She was giving a speech, not in charge of crowd management. I honestly have no idea how anybody could blame a speaker for LEO's removing a disruptive person. What should she have done, in the middle of her speech, to help stop Padilla from being a disruptive ass, your term.???

Trump was voted in to deal with Illegal Immigration nation wide... there is nothing about him being able to do so in Texas but not California.

Padilla gave an interview that night. He didn't mention an apology.

What she described was the federal government "rescuing" the city from its duly elected officials. With the military. Sounds like a coup to me.

ICE agents are armed. They don't need any more protection, and if they do, bring more ICE agents. Or FBI. It's illegal to use the military.

It's obvious to a casual observer that Trump hasn't met any of the conditions required by law.

This is what's dangerous. The law doesn't empower POTUS to make this decision. It's up to the states. The statute specifically deals with federal law. If the governor refuses to act on federal law - if Newsom activated the guard to surround the federal building, preventing ICE from entering, for example - then I believe the stature would apply. This LA protest and small riot don't satisfy the condition.

If POTUS held the power to deem any violence an insurrection necessitating troops on the street, then there is no check against troops on every street in the country.

Trump's argument hasn't been in showing how the conditions in LA satisfy the text of the law. The argument is that POTUS, and POTUS alone has the power to declare and define an emergency. Once Trump declares an emergency, it's out of the court's hands. I don't think the courts are eager to relinquish their constitutionally equal power.

Seems the optics aren't panning out in Trump's favor or hers.

Noem is following a script. She's qualified to only read scripts. Unexpected circumstances confuse her. She stood there, continuing to talk, like everything was normal. Probably peeing her panties. Not in fear for her safety - she knows who Padilla is - but because she didn't know what to do.

Evidently Padillo didn't consider common decency when he disrupted the press conference. He certainly garnered the attention he sought without ever asking his "question."

Noem was telling her audience that they were in LA to overthrow the government. Not sure that's constitutional, but ok.
