Looks like a lot is pointing to sanders being the winner.
Big takeaways from CNN and other media outlets in reaction to this debate in comparison with the GOP: "Substance" "Class" and "Unlike GOP debate."
CNN's disastrous and intentional tanking of the previous debate is being quickly covered up, ignored, and unknown.
Well, the next two GOP debates are on CNBC & Fox, so we'll see how your theory goes.
Hillary won, hands down, and it wasn't even close. Which is sad, because she sucked too. She did a terrible job of defending her flip flopping when Cooper called her out. She kept saying she had plans but she never said what her plans were. She cackles and it's unappealing. And now everyone in America had to hear about her "mom" as we poor souls in NH have had to do for months. Can she be pandering any more to women? If I was a woman who would vote for anyone up on that stage last night (I'm not), I would be genuinely offended.
Bernie was sincere, but all he did was bitch, toss out crazy ideas, and look generally angry and un-Presidential.
O'Malley ended really strong but by that time it was too late.
Webb was a non-entity.
Chafee looked nuts, and for doG's sake, I was embarrassed for him when he tried to explain away the Glass-Steagall vote. I wanted him to just shrink away.
Anderson Cooper did one of the best debate moderator performances I've ever seen. He asked phenomenal follow up questions, pulled them back in, made them stay on topic, and really did a great job.
Monet of the night - when Hilary said she went down to Wall Street in 2007 and told them to "Cut it out! Stop foreclosing on those houses!". I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants. I've heard bull**** out of her lying mouth, but that was the worst.
Gotta love it....
Step one: Have Republicans on for a debate. Make almost every "question" in the first hour to two hours be clear attempts to bait them into personal mudslinging and rarely substantive in nature.
Step two: Have Democrats on for a debate. Make most "questions" be an attempt to deal with substantive issues, be it the candidates thoughts on it or the candidates thoughts on another candidates policy stance
Step three: Talk about how the Democratic debate was "class" and "substantive" and the GOP one wasn't. Act as if that was entirely due to the candidates and their ability and focus as opposed to a clear attempt by moderation to steer and direct each debate in that fashion.
Disgusting.
"Hillary Clinton: I have a vagina, vote for me."
Okay,
Hillary wins of course. What is there to debate about?
Oh, and one more thing. Sheryl Crow's rendition of the National Anthem was one of the worst I ever heard.
You have GOT to be kidding. As an outsider, I think the Democrats have bent over backwards trying to work with the Republicans.
The Republicans have not been ashamed to state outright that their main mission was to block Obama. The ACA had almost 200 Republican amendments, in return for which not one Republican voted for it.
Jim Webb has more honor and integrity in the tip of one of his pinkies than Hillary Clinton. And I wouldn't vote for him.
Yes, he did well by waiting for this first debate to pass.
After Mrs. Clinton's performance, I'm not sure he should be jumping in - I dunno.
O'Malley was the strongest spark of the debate. I'd like to see him some more. And Webb if he can get better face time I think would do well.
Do not care what Jim Webb has and whether you would vote for Jim or not. What matters is that people vote for Hillary and she wins.
He's a good guy. I don't fully agree with him but he is substantive and a good man.
Hillary invoked Obama's name over and over and over again. I can't stand her but it shows her skills as a politician. She was pre-emptively tying herself to Obama so that Biden can't, in the event he gets in.
he can't win the black vote because of his zero tolerance policy while mayor of BaltimoreO'Malley's closing remarks were brilliant. He was likeable, strong, articulate and very Presidential. Unfortunately for him, I think it was a little too late. He was widely ignored last night. I really like both him and Webb but I think last night was bad for both of them.
I don't think he gets in now. I don't trust her or believe in her, but she did well last night from a Dem's point of view.
