If this were only about legal/illegal immigration, you would be proposing legislation that makes it easier for the immigrants our businesses and communities need to come here. Or pathways to citizenship for people who have been here and formed families and lived according to our laws for many years—something that in *actual* reality most Hispanics and Latinos support. This was a special gift from a good friend. When good times return you would regret not having Lady Liberty. Besides that, it also means a lot to the rest of the world. It is an iconic symbol that stands for 'Liberty'! Tearing that down means giving in.

At this point the person will likely be detained and held until the claimed refugee status is approved or declined. If he approved he will officially be a refugee. Where is the real part in this? The people who were declined refugee status will be send back. You can argue that they were not real refugees. That should be the reason for refugee denial I think.
