CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

Off the top of my head, sulfur dioxide cap and trade to reduce emissions of acid rain.

I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Hmmm, those are social programs? Where do they reside, in what department and what is their yearly budget? You don't seem to understand what a social program is let alone how they are funded or whose responsibility they are

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

Yeah...that's exactly what the purpose of the Mandate is...

To move to single payer? I agree, and it was a cheap bait and switch.

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

Medicare was created in 65. There is a Medicare trust fund and there's an annual report of the amount of money it has.

As for getting your own insurance...there are issues for 50-64 years olds getting insured. The cost is ridiculous and there's a massive lack of availability. How much do you think an insurance company would charge a 65+ year old for insurance?

So we are told, then tell me why if it is in its own trust fund it resides in the Federal Budget at the U.S. Treasury Website? Name for me any other entitlement program other than SS and Medicare that reside in the Federal Budget? You really have been brainwashed. Do liberals like you ever admit when you are wrong?

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

SS and Medicare have had a massive impact on senior poverty levels.

They sure do, they keep govt. bureaucrats employed and people below the poverty level. You have no idea what you are talking about, maybe when you realize how little you are going to get, you will actually get it.

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

So you think that the EPA is not bloated, and out of control? Seriously?

I was going to let him/her bury himself/herself then destroy him/her. there is no question that the EPA is one of the most efficient organizations in the Federal Govt, LOL

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

Not at all.

Seriously.

Dont know what that has to do with my response.

Who do you think administers programs to control those items you listed? Still waiting though as to how you define those issues as social issues?

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

To move to single payer? I agree, and it was a cheap bait and switch.

So the Heritage foundation came up with the mandate in order to implement single payer...as an alternative to single payer?
Newt and house republicans advocated the single mandate as an alternative to single payer because they secretly wanted single payer?

I'm not sure what you're getting at. Because it's under the US Treasury it's no longer a trust fund? So what? We should be paying for it to be housed at Goldman or something? Have Goldman buy US treasuries and hold them and do the same thing the Treasury does?

The money is accounted for and held and T-Bills. When there isn't enough money coming in for a year they don't renew the T-Bills and use the proceeds to supplement the shortfall. Insolvency means all assets accumulated are gone. Every penny accounted for over the 50 year history of Medicare. Where is that wrong?

Missed youre caveat about 'social' programs.

Hmmm. Its a little tough because I dont really know what the orignial projections are for most of the ones we had.

I'm guessing SS and Medicare qualify for solving the problem and coming in at cost, given that SS has been around for 80 years and Medicare around for 40. These seem to have been quite solvent during that time, despite screaming conservatives (I remember this as far back as the 80s) telling us they would be bankrupt in five years. The tax burden for both of these programs seems to have been pretty stable for at least the last few decades. The projection of them 'running out of money' is the result of demographics. Once we get thru this baby boomer retirement, it all should be back on track (a great argument for increasing immigration, BTW).

I don't care about SS...it will supplement my retirement it's not my retirement. As for Medicare...yeah..I'll be very happy to get it because the out of pocket expense for the individual insurance on a private market (if I can get it) would be astronomical. The cost of the insurance would drain my savings like the hole in the bottom of a sink.

NO. That is the spin by the liberals in DC to cover for their 2800 page insurance destruction law...It is classic Cloward and Piven. But you know that.

Ouch! Not going to get those young healthy individuals looks like....

A new Gallup poll brings more terrible news for President Obama and his signature health plan. Only 22% of uninsured Americans intend to buy insurance through the ObamaCare exchanges. One of the major selling points for using ObamaCare to disrupt our health care system (that polls showed up to 80% of Americans were satisfied with), was to insure the uninsured. But according to this poll, only a very small minority of that small minority is even interested in being insured.
Even more troubling is when you realize that a month ago, that number was double. A full 44% of the uninsured said they would purchase insurance though the exchanges.
Obviously, over the course of a month, the reality of ObamaCare scared off half of that 44%. The high cost of premiums, the high deductibles you still have to pay regardless of any tax subsidy, and the unforgivable bungling of the rollout only discouraged those we blew up a perfectly good health care system to help.
The worse news is that you can bet that the 22% who do intend to sign up are made up of the oldest and sickest among the uninsured. Meanwhile, the 78% of those uninterested, are the youngest and healthiest.

Poll: 78% Of Uninsured Not Interested In ObamaCare

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

Right. And Medicare didn't have to offer all the coverage requirements of each individual State, it is the same coverage no matter where you live.

So why they didn't put in regulations letting plans that meet just the Federal minimum requirement be allowed to be sold by any company into any State is what I find odd.

Insurers with plans that meet the standard can sell them in any state they want to.

They don't want to

Here's the truth behind the spin you offer....With the ACA, the provider matters little, as the plans are the same throughout....So basically you have 4 plans to choose from, regardless of the provider.

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

If your doctor doesn't accept medicare rates...what should we do? Send him a bigger check? Deplete the Medicare trust fund quicker so you don't have to switch doctors?

The people whine about big govt want their nanny state govt to force doctors to accept medicare

I bet the doctor accepts cash, but the people who whine about how taking govt entitlements creates dependancy will never reach into their own pocket

Conservative #1) Obamacare is MUCH more expensive than existing insurance!
Conservaive #2) I know! And you cant even get into the website to see how much it costs!

Maybe you addressed the wrong person, because this in no way address the poll I posted....

Look, your little plan is failing, or succeeding depending on just how much you are willing to admit this cynical plan to force us into socialized medicine.

I guess I should have used this illustration:

Conservative #1) we can't afford to publicize the ACA rollout to young people! The NFL needs to stay out of politics!

Conservative #2) yeah. And no young people want to sign up, anyway.

Whether you agree that Medicare is a good program or not a LOT of doctors are not accepting it anymore because the reimbursement rates are low, even if Congress has kept passing 'doctor fixes' every year. It is not reliable enough to count on that happening forever. If there are no doctors accepting it or you can't get in to see them when you need it what good does it do have the program?

re: CNN report on Obamacare: "Not Much To Choose From" [W:408]

No they cannot unless the States agree to a healthcare compact among themselves. They should be allowed without the States consent.

I really feel sorry for you, someone who should know better but apparently doesn't. Learn what the unified budget is and then ask why SS and Medicare are part of that unified budget vs. being where they belong, in a trust fund.

Yes, the money is accounted for in the form of IOU's. The money is gone, your money is gone and those IOU's have to be funded, how?? Where is the money going to come from? Let me know when the light bulb goes off in that head of yours.

SS and Medicare funds have been spent. It is trillions in unfunded liabilities because of the unified budget and the IOU's that back those unfunded liabilities have to be funded, how and by whom?

What you guess is the problem, take the money you put into SS and Medicare, put it in an untouchable savings account and see how much you would have after 35 years of work? The problem is you are very naïve and poorly informed. You really need to do research and find out what has happened to your money.

That was the intent, never to be sole retirement, yet the problem remains, how is that supplement going to be funded? You don't get it, your choice is Medicare, not your private fund. You have no choice. the cost of insurance won't drain your savings had you been able to get the money you and your employer contributed to both SS and Medicare when you retired. That money is gone, what part of that don't you understand?
