"Clean Start" Thread Creation Rule in Certain Forums

There would be a lot more voices from the right on the site if conservatives could obey the simple rules. Sadly, the 6 or so years I’ve been here has seen a litany of Republicans banned, because instead of “bashing” politicians, they prefer to insult fellow posters.

ROFL.....yet you sit and type from the wrong pov. You haven't a clue to what you are speaking. Having the opinion that Republican posters insult fellow posters more than lefist posters is laughable from experience. There's NO way I could say anywhere near the insults which have been thrown my direction.

Admittedly, most get tired of the oppositions retorts and lash out wrongfully, but the degree of occurrences from the left far, far outweigh the right.....it's not even close and is far more accepted without consequences.

This is from the OP: “…… that anyone who starts a new thread must ensure their OP is "clean" of all baiting, trolling, and other such language as may lead to problems right off the start in the thread. No insults, no pejoratives, no negative insinuations, group name-calling, etc. - iow, a "clean start" thread.”

Hypocrisy much, redbeer?

In my entire time here I have found that everyone always think it’s their side that’s in the minority and it’s always the other side that’s the problem.

Seems like you might have banged your head when you were rolling around on the floor. Like I said, I’ve seen many people banned over the years. The majority of them Republicans because they can’t seem to help themselves from insulting other members or threatening them or calling for violence against certain groups. It’s not always Republicans, just more often than not. That’s what accounts for the imbalance of the site. You guys seem to struggle with the difference between insulting the post and insulting the poster. I learned it pretty quickly when I joined. Some people are slower learners I suppose.

On the other forum I go to - they have this rule. And it works fine.
On that forum you can call people almost any name you want. "You are a dumbass" - perfectly within the rules.

You know what? That forum is way-way more civil than this forum. This is one of the worst I have been on as far as civility goes. It is like this place is a high school forum. And that is a fact.
I came here to challenge myself. The other forum is about 60-40 conservative. This place is at least 90-10 liberal.
And that is the problem. Most conservatives won't last here a day. You all drive them away with childish "group-name" calling, insults, and rants.
"nobody likes you" is a taunt I receive frequently.

I actually imagine myself in the middle of a middle school cafeteria walking past the table filled with 13 year old Karens when that happens.

I have seen a number of liberals suspended or banned over the years, and many times I can’t figure out why because they were, in general reasonable chatters. It’s not just right wingers.

Plenty of liberals get suspended or banned. Just not with the same frequency as conservatives. It could be bias from the mods. Or it could be the people always bleating about freedom of speech can’t seem to stop insulting everyone. I know which my money’s on.

If only there was a place here where the normal B/F/T rules didn’t apply and people could just have it out and get it out of their systems. 😁

Almost as if the site is designed perfectly!

Now that I am 70, I don't get it out of my system nearly as often as I used to.

You should have seen me at 15, though.

For new threads in the Politics forums - and frankly, any of the other highly charged forums, like abortion or religion - make it rule that anyone who starts a new thread must ensure their OP is "clean" of all baiting, trolling, and other such language as may lead to problems right off the start in the thread.
Errrr.... B/F/T is already against the rules, regardless of whether it's the first or last post in a thread.

If you think someone is violating the rules, then report it.

Mod bias is common allegation and it’s almost never based on what mods actually do but on what someone thinks they’re not doing. Most people, hopefully, are or should be honest enough with themselves to know when they crossed a line but many seem to think nothing is done about someone else when there’s no way for them to know that. People could probably save themselves a lot of time and agitation if they just stopped worrying about what may or may not have happened to someone else and concentrate their efforts on the only person here that they actually have any control over.

Another member suggested this recently, and when I heard it, I thought it was a very good suggestion.

Things'll no doubt descend very rapidly, as do most threads around here do anymore, but clean starts might help tone things down a bit.
So the mods will log in to 5000 reports/day, over butthurt because someone said something you consider BFT in their OPs.

I like you, G.

I think I’m quite happy to have not seen that. 😁

It isn't a difficult matter to create an op that does not automatically insult anybody who might disagree with the view it expresses.

Your credibility in this particular matter is of course impeccable.

If so, why should it only apply to the OP and not to follow-on posts?
