Would it really add that much work?
Way too much subjectivity. It’s a dumb idea.

That was my response - "ok, no." A "no" is fine. It was only a suggestion, not an imperative.Exactly this.
Yeah, or how about no?
I'm unsure. Clearly you were unable to do so with this thread, and I'm not sure it's clear how one provokes a debate -- a discourse amongst opposing views -- sans any "negative insinuations" about said opposing view. But c'mon - do you really think it that difficult to start the sort of thread I'm [only] suggesting?
Who are “you people”?You people think an anodyne expression of Christian faith is an attack on the President. You are incapable of objectively assessing a “clean start.”
That’s what I thought. Having just spent a significant portion of time I’ll never get back tryin* to get anyone to actually discuss the inflammatory and incorrect thread title topic elsewhere, I think this is a grand idea. The razzle dazzle of witty descriptors such as tRump and Orange man etc. has lost its sparkle.
Seems he needs to take his own advice.....or that of this 'other member'. Whichever is loudest in his head at the time. How does one start a thread devoid of any negative insinuations?
It can be argued that your OP for this thread made negative insinuations about the posting community of this site.

Really? I don’t generally engage at that level.Do not preach from such a low pulpit.
4 or 5 new libertarian, independent or conservative mods would certainly help.Maybe we need more mods then.
Non-Stalinists as far as I can figure out.Who are “you people”?
This makes sense as I have placed about 80% of the forum on ignore and the 10% left are on probationThe general political forum has become primarily a Trump bashing forum. I see the ratio running at 90% anti-trump posts...often rants. A few in here want to discuss issues from a more or less factual basis and hopefully if not agreement, an understanding of the position. I have put a lot of people on ignore so there are many posts I don't see.

That would help to restore some semblance of balance here.4 or 5 new libertarian, independent or conservative mods would certainly help.

Another member suggested this recently, and when I heard it, I thought it was a very good suggestion.
For new threads in the Politics forums - and frankly, any of the other highly charged forums, like abortion or religion - make it rule that anyone who starts a new thread must ensure their OP is "clean" of all baiting, trolling, and other such language as may lead to problems right off the start in the thread. No insults, no pejoratives, no negative insinuations, group name-calling, etc. - iow, a "clean start" thread.
Things'll no doubt descend very rapidly, as do most threads around here do anymore, but clean starts might help tone things down a bit.
Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!Unlike people who think men can get pregnant and can't define a woman.
On the other forum I go to - they have this rule. And it works fine.Way too much subjectivity. It’s a dumb idea.

There would be a lot more voices from the right on the site if conservatives could obey the simple rules. Sadly, the 6 or so years I’ve been here has seen a litany of Republicans banned, because instead of “bashing” politicians, they prefer to insult fellow posters.Good idea, but this is a left-leaning forum and precisely why it cannot become a reality. The last nine years of 'bashing anything Trump' to such a degree cannot be stopped by more rules or moderators. It's the only thing that keeps them happy.
