Yes they do, even generals make mistakes, even the great ones. You have read enough military history you should know that. Name a great general, I will name at least one mistake he made.
There's nothing wrong with sending email from a govt computer....I haven't seen anything that said anything transpired on a govt computer, though.
Sorry but you are wrong. Personal e-mails from a government owned computer which are loaded with government owned software is a federal offense. I spent eight years in DOD and we got lectured on this every year. If caught you could be dismissed or worse.
Each government (US) computer has a tracking device to make sure this does not happen.
When I became a team leader I was responsible for reporting any such activity to DCIS
The use of government computers for personal use is a very serious charge and apparently there were a ton of them which as I understand it is how the FBI got involved in the first place.
The Clintons had access to 500 RAW FBI files on political opponents.
We know the Clintons lie under oath... both... Hillary on The Amazing Cattle Futures, and Bill was impeached for lying under oath.
Of course they never saw the files ROTFLOL; they were merely found in the WH.
Had Nixon done that he would have been impeached.
Flying three jet airliners into strategic targets in one morning was also considered pretty small.
and you'd see another Executive privledge combined with a metric ass ton of the 5th amendment.
..Subpoena..
Dude.... have you ever used a government computer?
The use of government computers for personal use is NOT a very serious charge.......
Its only a very serious charge when it is politically convenient for those in power (im not talking of conspiracy theories in THIS case here, or even national politics for that matter).
Yeah, that is how it is spelled. Could not get close enough for spell checker to make it right.
If that happens, you might have an actual complaint. Now, not so much.
This whole story sprang out of the the smoke screen originally floated that a demonstrating crowd burned the Embassy. When you start out spinning too quick you wind up back peddling from that point on.
I don't disagree with that and I sure as hell don't blame them; I would use my position in the government to get laid, too--in a heartbeat
However, the part that is fishy, is that powerful men usually do a better job of keeping it under wraps.
Apparently Ms Bradwell or Broadwell sent emails to another woman.. threatening her if she didn't stay away from the General... and that woman went to the FBI.
Did you know that they can still issue a supina(however the hell it is spelled)? So much for that nonsense of yours.
What crime has he committed? Kicking your asses is not a crime.
No, he admitted to an extramarital affair ... which is obviously a huge problem for the chief of the CIA. Presumably it was going to come out and he decided to head it off.
The other take away is that the CIA and the FBI investigate one another. Spy versus Spy.

Wonder why the CBS guy tweeted this:
CBS’ Mark Knoller tweets that “Senate Intelligence Committee says Petraeus will not testify at next week’s closed hearing on the events in Benghazi.”
Perhaps there is some protocol I’m unaware of, but I don’t see why resigning should affect whether Petraeus testifies or not. He was in charge of the CIA when the Benghazi attack occurred, and the CIA has been under plenty of fire for how the attack was handled.
Petraeus Won’t Testify About Benghazi Attacks Now - By Katrina Trinko - The Corner - National Review Online
Yeah, but what's suspicious is that the whole affair and it's backdrop of accusations, so far rises only as innuendo and no charges. I'm sure the FBI carry a load of files on all the DC officials, which most Presidents and highly placed officials can use against political opponents. Not saying that's what happened here though I'm sure it has before.
The CIA knew ahead of time that the Libyan Embassy was under threat and had requested protection. I think the Administrations Staff decided to deny the request in hopes that less military or CIA presence would buy them favor with the new ruling Libyans but it was a poor decision that cost innocent lives. Now they're tucking their tails and running in circles trying to obfuscate the truth in hopes the story will go away. How Patraeus and Clinton are mixed up in this I don't know but there's more to it than we're hearing.

I don't think there is any question that the general had an affair with that nutjob Broadwell... but I am not sure there is a tie to poor judgment re: embassy security.
However, if Petraius sent her a thousand emails after they broke up that makes him a nutjob as well.
A really messy personal life does not inspire confidence.

I agree that though the timing of this is dicey it doesn't necessitate conspiracy with Benghazi. Could be two completely separate issues. The other woman telling the FBI about the affair kind of sounds bizarre now. Too much goofy stuff is going on here and most personal lives are messy if we could look into them all.
The story so far is that the other woman (unidentified) was afraid of threats from this Gmail account that beonged to the general. People with no self control shouldn't have affairs.
