Chicago and Detroit resemble South Africa when it comes to whose in charge. I'm surprised that Lightfoot hasn't said killing an albino cures coronavirus.

Coming from the guy who thinks the Nazis liberated Poland......you have no room to cast scorn on anyone else’s idiotic beliefs.

Apartheid South Africa was a hellhole locked in a never ending war both inside and outside of its borders.

I'm not into modern sci-fi, but enjoy. Philip K Dick has never been topped imo, and newer sci-fi draws heavily on ideas from Dick and the other giants of the genre.

I'm reading the Foundation Series again....I never fail to come away feeling like I have a different perspective on it each time.

The concept of realpolitik says otherwise. Regimes which have absolutely nothing in common routinely support each other.

i was thinking of letting my hair grow a bit, though i shaved my quarantine beard before i went out a few days ago.

Asimov was a fantastic writer. If you want something along those lines I recommend "Psychohistorical Crisis" by Donald Kingsbury. The best foundation related book written by someone other than Isaac that I have read including the 3 by Brin, Bear and Benford. I really should read the original again. I don't think I have read it since it was assigned in history class in 10th grade as a parallel to the Roman Empire. Enjoy!

Excellent....thank you for the suggestion; I will look that up.

My father tossed his recently read books at me when he finished them; usually Asimov, Clarke, Niven, Brin, Heinlein, Pournelle, and for just "brain candy", he had Alan Dean Foster....this was the stuff of my teen formative years. :)

I am not familiar with Alan Dean Foster, I will have to look him up. The others I have read quite a bit. Niven and Pournelle collaborated a bit. I really enjoyed the Legacy of Herot and Beowulfs Children. I enjoyed Brin and his Uplift books. For a 1 off, Heart of the Comet by Brin and Benford was excellent. If you like SF with some moral issues and conundrums I recommend L.E. Modesitt Jr., I picked up "The Parafaith War" at Walmart in a discount rack and was hooked.

My wife is going without a haircut (she is as hot as ever). I gave myself a trim with my clippers Thursday night (I look as ridiculous as I always do).

Why does the mayor of Chicago believe she is so special?

South Africa is very lucky that Nelson Mandela was there to oversee the transition from despotic white supremacist regime.
