I think you may be missing the point that the G7 plus the EU are in talks about a common protocol.

No, what I am describing is that common protocol, some type of endorsement the home country will add to your passport,
that tell the other G7 EU nation, that you have in fact been vaccinated against Covid-19.
It almost has to source back to the home country, otherwise, it would get too cumbersome.

Smallpox is an interesting story. It adapted to successfully infect humans so well it 'lost' its ability to infect any previous host. So once it was eliminated from humans it disappeared from the planet. The last known case was 1978 in India.

Many countries are headed that way
A move I fully support up to an including sport teams/business/health insurance requiring a vaccine certificate
Covid is here for the long haul, not enough vaccines world wide, newer variants, and no doubt more virulent strains will be coming down the road
US is having lower turnouts for vaccination and yes it also splits along party lines

The US has vaccinated more than just about any other country.

Mexico is lagging behind and is vaccinating at half the rate of countries in Europe and Canada. Fortunately for Mexico their cases are about 1/5 that of the US so although it's still important to get vaccines out it's not as urgent as in the US.
