Breaking: Israel launches 'preemptive strike' against Iran, declares state of emergency

Iran threatens to shut down Strait of Hormuz
I sense that many are over confident in Israel's ability to make this a quick war in a similar way that they thought Russia would take Kyiv in weeks.

Iran is not a small country & it has I believe something like the 6th largest military in the world? Population of almost 90mil many of which are in their 20s & 30s. Add in their soft power across Iraq & potential support from Russia & NK (China) this could turn into a decade long affair.

Not to mention activity in the strait of hormuz would likely bring Saudia Arabia & Egypt into the mix.

It would add the US as well since the US navy patrols the Strait of Hormuz

Oh im sure this is going to go over quite swimmingly…..

If this is the law of the jungle, without international justice, where brokered agreements are treated like toilet paper, without honor (the talks were a pretense), without accountability -- lets just say that my sympathies are not with Israel. Last I heard, Netanyahu has fled to Greece, and Israel has (surprise surprise!) placed their military targets in urban areas. Almost like human shields.

It is admirable how you keep digging looking for ways to apologize or rationalize what Iran has been doing for decades. All the time ignoring what they have been promising to do to Israel in the future.
That's an odd take on anything I said, and I can't help but note you've provided no retort to anything I stated. What someone promises to do and what they've actually done in accomplishing that "promise" is what matters. One can analyze the situation or just play "good guy /bad guy" ping pong.

Let's all sympathize with the Palestinians who have been on the wrong side of civilization for decades.
I'm not sure what this means.

All the Palestinians have wanted to do is destroy Israel, one of the most advanced and successful countries in the entire Middle East.
The Palestinians could have done something useful with the billions given to them by the West and the Arab countries.
That's a cool story, and I guess if one were to ignore the West Bank, this story might make sense. However, since Palestinians in the West Bank are subjected to all sorts of violence by settlers which is largely ignored by the government, your story doesn't really work. What would all of the money done for Gazans considering they don't control their own waters, air space, or land borders. What were you proposing they do with that money?

Look where they are now. A loser ethnic group that no one wants to support or defend.
I find this intellectually silly, and just repulsive to think of any group in that manner, because it betrays an ignorance of the conditions groups find themselves in both their contributions to their plight and those imposed on them.

What is "vile antisemitism"
Why is that aspersion relevant to this discussion?
The ONLY JEWS who are semites are the Mizrahi - the Mizrahi are NOT Zionists and they get along with the Palestinians.

STOP PARROTING BS

There is no such thing as "Palestinian." The people of Gaza are Arabs - pure and simple.

I was just addressing your claim that Iran had not lobbed missiles at Israel before.

Is it your claim that the previous attack should not count because the Iranians were incompetent, even though it looks like their goal was to inflict serious damage on Israel?
My claim is that their previous attack was just a demonstration of both country's potential power. Iran obviously proved these past days that they could cause harm should they really want to, and did so out of retaliation.

Could be. Israel took out a lot of kit last year and appears to be doing well
I'm talking about all the dead government and IRGC officials and the fleeing remainder. Intact SAMs not firing on Israeli drones or loitering jets. Seems like a collapse of command and control.

Iran threatens to shut down Strait of Hormuz
Good

This will be similar to the 1973 Oil Embargo.

AMericans will then have to wait over 8 hours in gas lines and pay over $20 a gallon.

Hopefully then STUPID Americans will have time to think whether the crazy love affair with the ASS-K-NAZI Entity is worthy .

Israel just proved that having a nuke is vital to discourage unprovoked attacks.
If this is a lesson that catches on, we’re looking at a world where every country races for nukes under the banner of deterrence, which could be a recipe for disaster.

But sure... short term safety.

Could be and 1 can hope

What's your attitude toward who you call MAGAs, or the KKK, or the Proud Boys?
The Palestinians in Gaza are a loser group who have been sacrificial pawns for Hamas since 2006.

Sorry if I've insulted anyone you know close to that pitiful population.
But that is the real world.

Shahran Oil Depot has been hit by Israel.

What a surprise. Iran won't give up its deadly nuclear ambitions so an oil depot has been destroyed. What did the Iranians expect? To wait for Israel to apologize for starting a war with their most deadly opponent?
