The real MAGA movement, as I understood it, whatever our disagreements, was against costly ongoing US foreign commitments. I sometimes think they carry it to extremes, but I do think they were sincere about this - and they still are.

I disagree. I believe there is a serious authoritarian wing in the Republican Party that embraces Putin and leaders like Orban. And anything that harms Russia in any way is anathema.

As models for how to control their internal politics, yes. But they want fewer foreign commitments except against those who challenge our hegemony (China).

Iran's authority will lose and many Iranian civilians will also lose.

That's not the end; that is the beginning of a new era of Middle Eastern politics. Even the Arab enemies of Iran now have very good reason to distrust the US/Israel. They won't dare challenge our supremacy directly, but they might indirectly.

The iron dome is for rockets and mortars.

Standard ABM is doing the job, and doing fairly well.
