House Rules Committee Chairman Jim McGovern on Wednesday defended his 2017 objection to President Trump's electoral votes from Alabama as a "protest" as he sparred with GOP Rep. Jim Jordan during House debate the parameters for debating the latest article of impeachment against Trump.

MSNBC host Chris Hayes has been one of the most vocal critics of President Trump, accusing him in recent weeks of undermining democracy by not conceding the 2020 presidential election, but resurfaced comments he made back in 2016 suggested he also did not respect the country's electoral process.
Back in December 2016, following Trump's Electoral College victory against Hillary Clinton, Hayes offered a "fun fact" that suggests that the 306 electors that handed the president-elect the White House didn't actually have to abide by their own state's ballot outcome.
"Fun fact: states decide how to apportion their electors. They could give them all to, say, whichever candidate won majority of counties!" Hayes tweeted.

A resurfaced May 2017 tweet from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has led to calls for consistency from Twitter as the social media giant continues its efforts to crack down on those skeptical of the results of the 2020 presidential election.

However, on the eve of Robert Mueller's appointment as a special counsel to investigate allegations of collusion between Russian officials and the Trump 2016 campaign, Pelosi tweeted: "Our election was hijacked. There is no question. Congress has a duty to #ProtectOurDemocracy & #FollowTheFacts."

As per The Woke's new election objection rules, Nancy Pelosi and Jim McGovern should be booted from Congress & Social Media and Chris Hayes should be fired from MSNBC and booted from Social Media.
And i don't want to hear any "But they didn't cause a riot" crap. It don't matter! Ted Cruz is being threatened with being put on a No Fly List and called to resign simply for questioning the election results while NOT egging on the Capitol criminal terrorists.

The number of things the left is continually shocked about things that happened, while forgetting that they did it 1st is really just baffling how they can rationalize it. Another good one was, "Trump is putting kids in cages!! Look at these pictures!" Then the pictures turned out to be from 2014 and Obama literally built everyone of those cages.
There's also a video out there of a collage of Hollywood celeb types begging the Electoral College to overturn the election.

You seem to recognize the totally distinguishing feature here--which is that none of these people supported, encouraged, or defended a terrorist attack on our nation's Capitol or any illegal efforts to prevent the transfer of power.As per The Woke's new election objection rules, Nancy Pelosi and Jim McGovern should be booted from Congress & Social Media and Chris Hayes should be fired from MSNBC and booted from Social Media.

Facts hurt you? I'm sorry.Hypocrites pretending to find hypocrisy elsewhere.
Whatever makes them think they have functioning moral systems.

Quite possibly Roadvirus and yourself were not aware of these facts? Or had forgotten them, perhaps? (Not being American, I didn't know/recall much of it myself.) But now that you and I are both better informed, can you understand the dishonesty of a comparison between A) Pelosi tweeting about the well-established fact of substantial foreign interference in the election without any hints of trying to overturn the certified results, versus B) Trump et al, perpetually continuing to tweet extreme and sometimes violent rhetoric about never conceding and "fighting" the results of an election which he had been claiming without evidence since many months beforehand was fraudulent but had 60ish failed lawsuits and the conclusion of his own Attorney General as proof to the contrary. Do you understand the difference there, and the abject dishonesty of the comparison?
It’s great that “the left” owns every lefty everywhere who says anything, (“Do you even KNOW what Alec Baldwin has been saying???” ‘Nope.”) but Trump is absolutely *not* responsible for the words he said directly to a crowd that then attacked congress to overturn an election.
Remember when ya’ll were all about cops until Trump voters beat one to death? I do!
Guess you're not following your own words, the words of leftists posting here, and what we are seeing in the media, eh? Everyone that is conservative or GOP is being painted by the actions of a few people over 4 hrs that had no mainstream support and is soundly being condemned.

President Trump isn't mainstream? As I'm sure you're well aware,
- he's reported by his allies as having been initially pleased by the events (annoyed only by the "low class" appearance of his supporters);
- he called Congress members literally in mortal danger from his mob, not to check on their wellbeing but to drum up further support for his own agenda;
- he refused to authorize assistance from the national guard when requested, eventually being undermined by Pence's authorization; and
- he expressed in a tweet his "love" for the "great patriots" involved, saying it was a day to be remembered.
That he later found it more expedient to turn on his supporters instead is neither a surprising nor a redeeming fact. The same can be said for the political expediency of Republicans who still support Trump, or defend him from even the earliest and mildest consequence of his actions, while making a big show of condemning the predictable effects of his (and in many cases their own) months of baseless claims/lies and extreme, sometimes violent rhetoric about "fighting like hell" to "stop the steal."*
*Edit: Coupled with almost total absence of responsible emphasis on peacefulness and respect for due process of the law and Congressional procedure... but instead an adamant refusal to ever concede or permit a peaceful transition of power.
He has condemned the actions and even prior to them he specifically said to peacefully protest so...
Yes, he later found it more expedient to thoroughly turn on his supporters instead of the delight and even "love" he had initially shown those "great patriots." Guess you've really put me in my place and shown what a great leader Trump is by pointing that out
Long, long history of disputing election results they don't like, but to be fair, there's some of that on the Republicans as well.
