Those families are currently trying to fight their way through red tape get get family to the airport and then home. When Biden finally calls it, and all hope is finally squeezed out of them, then the scope of the tragedy will start to be known.

you know why they cannot? Since Americans aren't required to tell the government where they are going or when and registering at the embassy is a suggestion and you don't check out either....that is why....it is blatantly clear to me that you haven't traveled abroad in any extent or you would know this.

You don't seem to realize exactly how closely you are being tracked by the Federal government when travelling abroad. You aren't required to tell the Government where you are going because the Federal Government already knows. Unless you are hiking across borders, they have record of your travel. If you buy airline tickets from the US to Kabul, the state department has a record. If you buy a ticket from Kabul to the US the DHS and FBI have the record too.

Travelling in and out of a warzone is also tracked more closely than a trip to the Bahamas. The state department "knowing" you travelled to the Bahamas is a matter of your name and travel schedule populating some cells in a database, flights into and out of Afghanistan have eyes-on record keeping.

I lived abroad for 2 decades...no one was tracking me. No, you aren't require to tell them, because the Constitution protects you that way. I was living in what was named the most violent country in the world...so, yeah a war zone.

LOL. Yes they were. If you bought a ticket to travel to or from the US, the Government has a record. The only way the US government doesn't track your foreign travel is if you backpack across international boarders... and today, only if you don't carry a cell phone with you.

I didn't buy a ticket to travel...I drove from the US to Honduras, in my car. No one even stopped me as I crossed the border into Mexico. Also, there is no boarder...it is a border...boarder is someone you rent a room to. It took me 7 days to get to Honduras and my car was packed to the top. I entered Honduras, went to San Pedro Sula, paid the import fee for my car and received Honduran plates for it. So, how again was it that I was tracked? I left for Honduras in 1998...I stayed until 2014.
Also, airlines are private companies...they don't share your travel information with the government, unless they have a warrant...read that ticket of yours....not to mention that most airlines have stop offs and you catch a connecting flight....many Americans used to travel to Cuba by flying to Mexico or driving and then catching a flight to Cuba, from Mexico...

You do realize that to get to Afghanistan there are no direct flights, correct? You have to land in another country before getting to Afghanistan...connecting flights...and the only government flights are US military.....the rest...are private airlines where the flight schedule of a private citizen requires a warrant...yeah, a warrant....they don't just hand every flight list over to the US government.

Trump negotiated a deal with the Taliban in January 2020. Why doesn't it surprise me that you don't know what the rest of the world (outside of Trump Fan Nation) knows?

Nonsense. Biden, obedient to the Taliban, made the deal and it backed up on him and American citizens like last week's garbage. What's tragic is so many who voted for him are enabling and apologizing for his total dysfunction.

As usual you show you hatred for our military that are doing a tremendous job in a difficult situation. 90 planes left the airport yesterday with 19,000 evacuees onboard. We still have leverage with the Taliban too. The U.S controls 70% of the Afghan treasury reserves and if they want that money they will cooperate.

Let's hear you complement our military for the fantastic job they are doing in evacuating 100,000 Afghans along with 1000's of Americans from the Taliban. I'll be waiting
