One of the most consistent aspects of the BBC’s reporting of Gaza and Israel is the insistence of its journalists that any “outbreak of violence” is the fault of the Palestinians. When Israel bombs or shells Gaza, this is unfailingly reported by the BBC as being in “response” or “retaliation” to rockets being fired from the blockaded territory. The unflinching regularity of this one-sided reporting by the UK’s state broadcaster is meticulously recorded in More Bad News from Israel, the book by Greg Philo and Mike Berry which contains research by the Glasgow Media Unit into the BBC’s reporting of the occupation.
The BBC’s coverage of Israel’s most recent assault on Gaza in November was no exception. An article published on the BBC’s website the day Hamas commander Ahmed al-Jabari was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City stated that the killing “follows a wave of rocket attacks against Israel from the territory” (“Israeli air strike kills Hamas military chief Jabari,” 14 November 2012).

All BBC journalists stuck to Israel’s official line that the assassination of 14 November, and what followed, was in retaliation to Palestinian rockets — and conveniently omitted from their reports the fact that Israel had been engaged in killing Palestinian children in the days immediately preceding al-Jabari’s execution.

We see this too often within Western media when it comes to the Israel/Palestine conflict. Often times western media accepts the Israeli line as 100% fact and often do not look away from that for other information or other sources. Often times the media hardly ever goes into the casualties of the Palestinians and mostly just focuses on the casualties of the Israelis, and just accept the Palestinian casualties as "collateral damage". We see this too often in our media. We need a bigger picture of this conflict.

Moved to the ME Forum. Please note that the ME forum Martial Law Concordance now applies. Thank you.

Whereas the electronicintifada.com surely offers much more objective, unbiased coverage of the conflict.

How is that an admission to anything?

BTW complaining about propaganda when using one of the most blatantly anti-Israel websites on the Internet is contradictory to say the least.

This is a book it would seem, not an admission or statement. The thread title appears to be inaccurate unless I've missed something.

A chicken and an egg thread again?
Israel suffered numerous rockets and IEDs about a month none-stop prior to the assassination of Jaabri, the incident in which a child was unfortunatly killed (not children) was less than a week before the assassination. Anyways, are you suggesting that the fact a child was killed in an action against PIJ militants who laid IEDs (or fired an AT missile, I don't recall what came first) against an IDF force which was patrolling the border is somewhat reasoning intensive fire of ~1000 rockets on southern Israel in one weekend? Are you suggesting Israel should just sit down and take it?

You don't really want a bigger picture, you want only the "Israel is completely at fault, all the time, no matter what they do" picture and from reading these forums it seems to me you have plenty of options for finding the slant you prefer.

I say that? Really? I stated that in this OP? Really?

The verb 'shown' is a lot more fitting than either 'say' or 'state' in this case. You have definitely shown this in the OP.

Oh please... Even the word "Israeli propaganda" makes me laugh. I don't know in USA but here the Israelis simply "dies" and the Pals instead "are killed", in the leftards websites the "IDF" is translated as "Forze D'occupazione Israeliane" (in english: Israeli occupation forces). The media have even shown the nazi bastard Vittorio Arrigoni like an hero.

Please don't try to piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. You are pro anything that is anti-Israel.

Not true at all.. I believe Israel has the right to exist.
