Bail Fail Stories

Ray's Laundromat has 16 security cameras as well as signs advising people that they are being recorded on the premises. The owner provided the video to the Decatur Police who arrested McClure. However, he was released under the new Pretrial Fairness Act.

Rai repaired his exterior window and interior door on the 13th of December. That night, McClure broke in again.

Lewis was arrested in 2018 and charged in the murder of a paralyzed man in a wheelchair outside a Country Club Hills movie theater the previous year. He was locked-up until Cook County Judge Carl Boyd lowered his bond in 2020 allowing Lewis to be released on electronic monitoring after posting $30,000 bond. Cook County sheriff’s deputies clamped an ankle monitor on Lewis and he left the jail.

Alvin Bragg's bad judgement re: NYPD-assaulting migrants comes back to haunt him again:

Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, 19, was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of robbery and petit larceny a day after he and three other suspects – who still remain at large – made off with about $608 worth of assorted clothing they stole from the Macy's department store in the Queens Center Mall, the NYPD said.

In the aftermath of the NYPD attack, Yohenry Brito, 19, was the only migrant held without bail. Gomez-Izquiel and four others – Yorman Reveron, 24; Jhoan Boada, 22; Wilson Juarez, 21; and Kelvin Servita Arocha, 19 – were charged with assault and released.

Court records obtained by KCRG indicate that Louisma and Van Patten knew each other beforehand. Both were accused of beating the same man back on January 14, 2024, at an apartment in Cedar Rapids. Both were released on bond in that case.

No one has become a victim because of this Bail Fail yet, but it's still a black mark on the policy:

Enraged officials in New York are calling on Gov. Kathy Hochul to repeal the state’s cashless bail laws after four suspects who were arrested in connection to the horrific dismembering of two people on Long Island last week were let back out on the streets.

However, under the 2019 bail reform laws, the charges of mutilation and disposing of murdered corpses are no longer bail eligible, which means the prosecutors could not ask for bail, and the suspects could not be remanded to custody, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement Tuesday.

A New York woman accused of gruesomely dismembering two bodies and then scattering the parts on Long Island was arrested last week, days after being freed under state bail laws.

On Friday, she was arrested for allegedly stealing beauty products from a Lindenhurst CVS store while under court-ordered electronic monitoring, Newsday reported. Wallace, 40, of Amityville, has pleaded not guilty to petit larceny.

Ana Kasparian finally hits the wall on defending leftist bail policies.

What took you so long, Ana?

Police say Carlton McPherson, 24, of the Bronx, was behind the deadly shove at the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station in an unprovoked attack at around 7 p.m.

McPherson has been charged with murder for allegedly pushing the unidentified man on the tracks. The victim was then fatally hit by an incoming 4 train as it arrived at the station and could not stop on time.

According to several reports, McPherson has a long history of mental health issues and has been collared several times.

He was arrested last October on assault, menacing, harassment and other charges in Brooklyn, according to the New York Daily News. The publication, citing court documents, reports that when he was arraigned, he was released without bail but was arrested again when he failed to show up to court.

But he was let out on bail again after being picked up by police, and a judge issued a second warrant. He was arrested for a third time for the initial crime in January, and bail was set at $2,000, which he paid, the New York Daily News reports.

Another Illinois SAFE-T Act (less use of bail, use more "pretrial release") failure:

Judge David Kelly detained Allen, noting that Allen had two previous juvenile gun cases and was on pretrial release for another juvenile case at the time of the shooting. Allen is the eighth person accused of shooting, killing, or trying to shoot or kill someone in Chicago this year while on felon pretrial release.

VILLA PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — A man arrested on domestic battery charges in Chicago was on pretrial release when he killed his wife in a murder-suicide, authorities said.

Winston Elguezabal, 47, was equipped with an electronic monitoring device after being released from jail. He had been arrested on April 14th and charged with domestic battery against his wife, Julie Elguezabal, 49.

Elguezabal was released from jail under provisions of the Safety, Accountability, Fairness, and Equity-Today Act (SAFE-T Act), a controversial law enacted in 2021 that abolished the cash bail system.

He was given a Notice to Appear at a future court date and ordered to stay 1,000 feet away from his wife. (That "order" worked well, didn't it?)

McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally said the data in his county doesn’t show what proponents promised.

“There was a 30% increase in crime by those on pretrial release compared to those on cash bail,” Kenneally told The Center Square.

Police arrested an Indianapolis man for murder after they claim he intentionally drove over and killed another man outside a bar just two days after being released from jail.

Police quickly arrested Maguellal for battery and criminal recklessness for that shooting and court records, obtained by FOX 59, show a Marion County judge initially gave the suspect a $100,000 bond.

Court records showed that the bond amount stemmed from the fact that Mageullal also had a pending criminal case of intimidation, illegal entry and drug charges in Johnson County in September.

However, for unknown reasons, Maguellal's bond was promptly lowered to $15,000, and he was released from jail just two days before Bank's murder.

A New York City councilman says a Queens judge showed a "stunning lack of judgment" when he freed a career criminal who then shot and injured two people, including a police officer, on Tuesday, and then was killed by officers during an exchange of fire.

Democrat Councilman Robert Holden is urging Mayor Eric Adams to demand the resignation of Queens Criminal Court Judge Edward Daniels for freeing 57-year-old Gary Worthy in August without bail for assault and burglary charges, per reporting from the New York Post.

Seattle Judge Veronica Galván's decision to release an armed robbery suspect who went on to allegedly disembowel a teenager – and a bevy of similar progressive decisions on the bench – make her "effectively as dangerous as the violent suspects she chooses to keep out on the streets," talk show host Jason Rantz told Fox News Digital.

Millorz J. Canales, a 17-year-old reputed member of the Norteño gang, was charged with assault, kidnapping and robbery on Dec. 17. Canales and an accomplice allegedly lured a 14-year-old to Lions Park in Everett, KOMO News reported.

Weeks earlier, on Nov. 15, Canales was arrested for an alleged gang-related armed robbery in Seattle. He was released without bail on Dec. 2 by Galvan despite objections from the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and was awaiting trial when he allegedly mutilated the 14-year-old.
