At least 10 people were killed in a shooting at the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical newspaper firebombed in the past after publishing cartoons joking about Muslim leaders, French TV channel iTELE reported.

France Info radio also said police had confirmed a toll of 10 dead and five injured. Reuters had no immediate official confirmation of deaths.

The news channel quoted a witness as saying he saw the incident from a building nearby in the heart of the French capital.

"About a half an hour ago two black-hooded men entered the building with Kalashnikovs (guns)," Benoit Bringer told the station. "A few minutes later we heard lots of shots," he said, adding that the men were then seen fleeing the building.

A police official, Luc Poignant, said he was aware of one journalist dead and several injured, including three police officers.

"It's carnage," Poignant told BFM TV.

A firebomb attack gutted the headquarters of Charlie Hebdo in November 2011 after it put an image of the Prophet Mohammad on its cover.

The terrorists also shot up one of the police vehicles on its way to the scene.

Hope they catch the b******s.

I sense a greater hardening of opinion from non muslims across Europe and it's beginning to be deserved. These people have been sheltered within their community for too long.

It's coming to that point Paul isn't it. We can keep hoping some atrocity will force peaceful muslims to really speak out but it's not happening.

Two of the gunmen were dressed in typical jihadist "uniform" of black balaclavas, khaki ammunition pouches and were armed with Kalashnikovs, the BBC's Frank Gardner reports. They were heard shouting "Allahu Akbar".

This kinda goes back to the point I was trying to make with someone last week. Sure, this doesn't necessarily represent all muslims, but WHERE THE **** is the outrage by the muslim community? All there is is the sound of crickets. I'm all about tolerance, but when they show this little concern for the violence being done in their names I can't help but feel like they're sympathetic to it.

There are many videos running online showing the cruelty and inhumanity of this monsters, pure evil, really hard to watch. They were well armed and trained, absolutely not spontaneous act. These kind of monsters should be held in prison for the rest of their life.

I always remember the unprecedented marches against the Iraq war, in the UK. Where the f... are the marches against the actions of ISIS ?

People wonder about the rise of the far Right in Europe...this is why. War is coming to Europe and it will be long and nasty. I have been saying this for years and it is inevitable.
I could add so much more but it would be a pointless exercise, it always is because people don't want to hear.

Two men that walk into a building armed with automatic weapons and only kill ten were not well trained.

Gunmen Attack Offices of Paris Satirical Newspaper, Killing 12

"PARIS — Masked gunmen burst into the Paris offices of a French satirical newspaper on Wednesday and killed 12 people, including top journalists and two police officers, before fleeing in a car. The gunmen were still at large at dusk, as an extensive police dragnet spread across a traumatized city.


Among the dead were four prominent cartoonists who have repeatedly lampooned Islamic terrorists and the Prophet Muhammad, leading to speculation that the attack on the newspaper, Charlie Hebdo, was the work of Islamic militants acting alone or in concert with extremist groups.


A police guard assigned to protect the newspaper was among the first victims. A second police officer, who responded to reports of the shooting, was killed on the sidewalk outside the office by the fleeing suspects, the Paris police said. The shooting of the second police officer was captured in a widely-seen video. . . ."

Most could not be described as very bright people. Not when the evidence was all around them and the intentions of those who would take control was well publicized! They were blind and wanted it that way.

Because a newspaper does not want to publish or spread offensive comics does not mean "freedom of speech" is dead.
