At least 10 dead in Paris shooting[W:163]

Re: At least 10 dead in Paris shooting

Two men that walk into a building armed with automatic weapons and only kill ten were not well trained.

They did the job, left and weren't caught. That actually shows quite a bit of discipline.

These weren't "kill 'em all" rampage shooters like we see in school shootings. These were people with a very specific agenda and a properly executed plan.

Re: At least 10 dead in Paris shooting

What is offensive?

Anything could be offensive.

And each publication has the right to decide to censor what it deems offensive and not censor what it doesn't.

And be slaughtered by Muslims if they deem it offensive.

Especially if they are intimidated by terrorists.

Considering how many countries in North Africa, the Middle East, and south east Asia are in a state of chaos and near anarchy, it is no surprise that Europe is suffering collatoral damage

Especially if they are intimidated by terrorists.

That would be the important distinction. Is it simple self censoring due to a sense of moral obligation or is it a decision made due to fear of retribution?

Bingo.

It's not 'collateral damage'. It is direct and deliberate.

-- It looks like freedom of speech is officially dead in Europe.

There isn't a direct link showing this image on the Daily telegraph. You can use google image search and that image does not appear anywhere on the Daily Telegraph site.

And those decisions have consequences. A racist troll got himself and a bunch of other people killed because of his decision to continue trolling the xenophobes he knew wanted him dead. A drug killer can be a murder victim of another drug dealer, but that doesn't make it any less foreseeable and avoidable with the decision to stop being a drug dealer while you still can, nor does it make the crime any less a murder.

But why should you conflate the legitimate exercise of free speech with racist or criminal activity?

Islam is not a race. Inferred in your post is "well, they had it coming" type of attitude, which is very disturbing.

If you do something that angers someone else and they kill you - whether your actions were proper or not - it seems your demise and the killers actions are fully justified.

Interesting how you equate the free expression of political satire to crime.

Re: At least 10 dead in Paris shooting

I always remember the unprecedented marches against the Iraq war, in the UK. Where the f... are the marches against the actions of ISIS ?

Paul

But that was different, Paul. You see you can always get protest marches against the 'evil' Americans. Against the beheaders and crucifiers? Not so much.

Who cares?

Re: At least 10 dead in Paris shooting

Because a newspaper does not want to publish or spread offensive comics does not mean "freedom of speech" is dead.

Yes, in fact that's exactly what it means.

They killed twelve. And how do you know they did not have a list? And were not interested in killing any but those on the list?

Depends on how many people are in the building I suppose.

Re: At least 10 dead in Paris shooting

Where's Pete EU to post some atrocity committed by Jews or Christians who didn't like a cartoon being published? Come on, Pete!

Re: At least 10 dead in Paris shooting

I wonder if some people in France aren't thinking of the way their country dealt with Algerian terrorists in the 1950's. French forces used far harsher methods than anything America-hating leftist limpwrists are whining about our interrogators having used--and they got very good results. We will see what French counter-terrorist experts can find out about what organization the bastards who did this are part of. If they catch them, I hope they take the gloves off and make them tell everything they know. Only too bad they did away with the guillotine.
