As a military veteran, let me say this about conservatives

Dear conservatives: you claim to love our soldiers, support the military, etc. Guess what? The military DOES not love you back.

How many gop chickenhawks actually put on a uniform or picked up a rifle? Basically zero. Meanwhile, Democrats who are working hard for peace are proud of their military service. I'm talking about Tammy Duckworth, John Kerry, and Chuck Hagel.

We don't very much appreciate your desire to send us to fight and die in random wars all around the world, while you just sit back and enjoy not being in ACU's and boots while carrying half your weight in your rucksack.

We support a deal with Iran. We DO NOT want to risk our lives to satisfy the islamophobia of Marco Rubio or Rand Paul.

And if we fail to get a nuclear deal, guess what? Iran gets the bomb? Why do conservatives hate their country so much that they want our enemies to get the bomb?

A government organization doesn't love conservatives, how quaint.

Me.

Or John McCain, George H. W. Bush, and...well...Chuck Hagel(you realize he's a republican, and a conservative, part of the reason he stepped down).

I agree with you, you know who's been sending us to wars and conflicts? Obama.
We support a deal with Iran. We DO NOT want to risk our lives to satisfy the islamophobia of Marco Rubio or Rand Paul.
You speak for the military now? are you active duty? Are you a public affairs officer?
And if we fail to get a nuclear deal, guess what? Iran gets the bomb? Why do conservatives hate their country so much that they want our enemies to get the bomb?
You've seem to have a lot riding on this one deal here...

I am an honorably discharged veteran who spent time in Korea, helping make sure South Korea could survive an attack from the North if sheet hit the fan.

And I know that most of the squad and platoon I was in were staunch liberals. All of them, from our newest E-2 to our PSG and LT, hated neocon chickenhawks with a burning passion

Feel free to speak for yourself but don't you dare pretend to speak for me!

I speak for the vast majority of the military. My entire platoon, from the O-1 to the E-2 were all proud Obama voters, supported gay marriage, strict gun control, and amnesty for immigrants. The same is true for my American Legion post, which helped run voter registration drives and distributed flyers for every election in this decade.

My friend, I don't know about the air force all that much, but as for the vast majority of the military, conservatives are the SMALL majority, and liberals and moderates are divided about 65/35

Just look at John Kerry, Tammy Duckworth, and this website: http://www.votevets.org/candidates to see which way the military and veterans lean

If you are really a veteran, you certainly do not speak for all or even most veterans. From my experience, the majority of active soldiers and veterans tend to be conservative.

How many gop chickenhawks actually put on a uniform or picked up a rifle? Basically zero.

I wore the uniform for three years, son.

Meanwhile, Democrats who are working hard for peace are proud of their military service. I'm talking about Tammy Duckworth, John Kerry, and Chuck Hagel.

Would that be the same John Kerry who false slandered his fellow soldiers in Vietnam in an attempt to jump start his political career?

We don't very much appreciate your desire to send us to fight and die in random wars all around the world, while you just sit back and enjoy not being in ACU's and boots while carrying half your weight in your rucksack.

Well we could send the Girl Scouts or the Rotary club, but then they do not train to fight wars.

We support a deal with Iran. We DO NOT want to risk our lives to satisfy the islamophobia of Marco Rubio or Rand Paul.

Again, you do not speak for all or even most veterans. Most of us conservatives would be okay with a deal with Iran if it was actually verifiable, enforceable, and it did not give away the house. Obama just wants a deal, any deal on paper so that he can claim a deal with Iran in his legacy. He knows that by the time the **** hits the fan from a bad deal, he will be safely out of office and will do what he has always done...blame the republicans.

And if we fail to get a nuclear deal, guess what? Iran gets the bomb? Why do conservatives hate their country so much that they want our enemies to get the bomb?

Btw, I do not believe you are a veteran. I think you are just into a bit of baiting.

If do a stupid deal, Iran will definitely get the bomb. And a nuclear arms race in the middle east will follow.

I am an honorably discharged veteran of the 2ID, was deployed to Korea, and earned the rank of Specialist. I speak for most, if not all veterans and active duty servicemen and women when I say that the military HATES the gop

Look at this list of veterans in Congress. What party are they ALL in? Candidates | VoteVets.org (hint, it's not gop or libertarian or green)

Sorry son. I just do not buy it. And I am not impressed by your posting a link to a progressive (liberal) P.A.C. that omits republican veterans.

They are a nonpartisan PAC that endorses both Republicans and Democrats. Their website says it. However, no GOP ever had the balls to put on a uniform and jump in the line of fire, so Democrats are the only people they can nominate

Man, I am no fan of conservative political philosophy and certainly not a fan of conservative politicians. And while I will take your word about the political leanings of your platoon, the majority of veterans, both active and retired, are conservative. I am not happy about that but I served for 20 years from the squad level to echelons above corps on five continents. I worked alongside all five branches of the services. The majority of military personnel are conservative. And that isn't just my own anecdotal experience. Poll after poll in the service papers indicate as much.

First, you got to stop saying you speak for most of the veterans. It makes you look foolish and full of yourself.

Second, yeah, while most vets are conservative I am sure most of them hate the GOP. Just as most of them hate the Democratic party. Most of them, like most Americans, have a very low opinion of political parties in general. But while they hate the GOP most of them most likely hate the Democratic party even more.

Nope. A company-wide poll carried out by our O-3 found that about 93 out of 100 of us identified as "liberal." About 60 of those 93 called themselves "very liberal or socialist."

It's a tricky thing to claim to speak for "the military."

Alright. That's it. I am calling bull****. You are trolling us. Not even 93 out of 100 State Department employees would identify as liberal, even though they are predominately liberal. But I also find it very improbably that "your O-3" would conduct such a poll. It would be HIGHLY inappropriate.

You also brag about your military service way too much. Veterans don't tend to do that. The manner in which you speak and the phrases you use lead me to doubt your military credentials. I hate saying that. I tend to take people at their word on these forums, but you are just going WAY overboard. There are a LOT of veterans on this board and they are not going to buy this.

And this is coming from a guy who votes Green Party so it isn't like I am offended by your anti-conservative rhetoric.

Some biased ALEC funded polls don't change the truth, my little infant

How quaint... spending time South Korea makes you somehow an expert on the rest of the 2.4 million military personal of the US military? Are you sure they were staunch liberals or a mix of Libertarians? Cause it seems you are just **** against the wall here.

Ok then, let me question your service. If you really served, and were proud of it like I am, then why don;t you mention your service at all?

Did you even serve for one second? If not, shut up.

I'm an honorably discharged veteran of the 101st Airborne and reached the rank from Sgt E-5, and you certainly don't speak for me. And by the way, I outrank you

Your O-3? Now we know you are 100% full of ****. No Officer can conduct a poll on these matters, none.. In fact the ONLY time a political poll in the last 30 years in the US military has been has been done via each branch was for Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy and that poll was done through your AKO account and anonymous.

How could your platoon be Obama supporters and support gay marriage, in the past tense as you wrote it, when you say you are from the Korea war?

Obama hadn't been born yet.

Ok then, let me question your service. If you really served, and were proud of it like I am, then why don;t you mention your service at all?

I do mention it when it is relative to the conversation. Hell, I mentioned it today. Just now. When conversing with you. :)

I DON'T go around bragging about it. I certainly don't think my service makes me better than others or makes my opinion more worthy than others simply based on my service. And frankly, I am not super proud of my service. I did a lot of **** in the name of my government of which I am ashamed and keeps me up some nights.

But just from your other thread:

Dear NRA: we are America's warriors. We are the Armed Forces. We train with our assault rifles to defend citizens like you.

Come on man. Who the hell talks like that? I am not ruling out that you served. It is a big Army and I once served with a guy who kept trying to convince us he was an undercover spy for the CIA embedded with our unit. So we have all kinds. It is just the way you talk. Right or wrong, it engenders doubt.

ETA: Oh, and this:

So when you pick up a gun, and read your little NRA propaganda, and feel like a good American, just remember that we real American heroes are not on your side.

I have never...EVER, served alongside anyone or know of a veteran who called himself a hero.
