From Korea to Vietnam, Afghanistan, Central America, much of Africa were all battles in that war. They were just fought by proxy.

These were 'Hot' battles in an otherwise Cold War and they were not all fought "by proxy".

Try not to start world wars. They have a habit of being rather costly, and play merry hell with the lawns.

Well of course. That's what we keep telling Europeans, but to no avail. How can you deal sensibly with a people who boast of having spent decade living under terrorism?

Bollox, propaganda does not stop tanks.

Perhaps not, but it can start them.

A credible deterrant and an uncertainty about the outcome does.

And Europe has a "credible deterrent? What might that be?

For all the bitching about how all whistleblowers are such a bunch of evil fascist Iswamophobic wacists, what would life be like under 'Muslim occupation'?

Ask the persecuted and murdered Christians and Jews of the Islamic world, especially in places like the Middle East.

Ask a worldful of Muslim women, forced to hide under the 'veil' by their fascist religion and supremacist pigs of their menfolk.

Just ask the dhimmi officials and politicians who continuously allow Muslims their own Sharia banking systems, animal cruelty death camps, fundamentalist madrassah schools calling infidels pigs, swimming pools (with burkinis even for the 'dirty kuffar' to wear), Muslim toilets and all the other disgusting impositions such insufferably extremist people have been lucky enough to command on the non-Muslim world.

And you should be proud to take a stand against pedophilia, the subjugation of women, the murders of Gays, adulterers, and anyone who shows signs of leaving this twisted Islamic system.

I was thinking about setting up a web site and start a personal road show going from Mosque to Mosque calling on Muslims to leave their barbaric religion behind.

My wife just tells me to make sure, I wear my body armour and have plenty of mags.

So you are denying that the Roosevelt administration did not target the Japanese American's for internment based on their ethnicity?

Your implification that Hitler and Roosevelt belong in the same sentence is my criticism. With all the ethnic cleansing and genocide that Europe is famous for, you have a plethora of European monsters to choose from. Closer, truer, and more honest comparisons would be Mussollini or your beloved Franco. Yet you chose an American President that didn't engineer any slaughter or ethnic cleansing. The Japanese weren't scapegoated at all. Locals were merely roundedup after their home nation attacked us. What did Jews do to Germany? Is the world "scapegoat" such a difficult word to grasp? You are absolutely pathetic and absolutely transparent. You'll state anything to ease your regions historic and famous depravity.

Well, that I agree with. Pete's point, however, was about scapegoating. If you look at it from that perspective, the comparison makes sense.

No Arcana. Pete's point is what it always is. No matter the subject, Pete will always suck something American into his European guilt. Get to know him better. Of all the monsters in history to choose from to place into a sentence with Hitler he chose Roosevelt for a very personal reason.

Let it slide or not? I can't...

To ignore FDR's 'involvement' would be dishonest....

FDR did round up Japanese-Americans and put them into camps, destroying and confiscating their businesses. In nature, little different from what the NAZIs were doing, just a lesser degree.

In 1988, Ronald Reagan signed legislation which apologized for the internment on behalf of the U.S. government. The legislation accepted, that the actions against, the japanese were based on "race prejudice, war hysteria, and a failure of political leadership" (FDR)

Close to 2 billion in reparations were later given out by our government to Japanese Americans or their descendants who had suffered imprisonment

Decades later, we can all sit back like righteous sages and declare the rounding up of Japanese locals in America as wrong. However, after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, the enemy was the Japanese and local Japanese were suspect in a nation on the defense. We also frowned on any German local and later even placed politicians and celebrities in the hot seat in congressional hearings to weed out "communists." None of these suspected enemy were scapegoats at all. We knew who and what the enemy was and we took precaution to not allow him to possibly roam free in our society to do harm. Our saving grace is that none of them were lined up and shot, tortured or slaughtered. None of them were placed into gas chambers or well heated ovens.

You stated quite clearly that there was "little difference." Jews neither threatened nor attacked the nation of Germany. Jews not were the scapegoat of Germany, but the scapegoat for Europe for centuries. Anti-semitism began in Europe. And when Germany was celebrating its newest fad or technique to slaughter another tribe for absolutely no reason at all it was merely capping off centuries of scapegoating for all of Europe.

If you can't see how extremely different this situation was between Hitler and Roosevelt then you having a learning disability. Roosevelt scapegoated no one. No Japanese local would have been imprisoned had Pearl Harbor not been attacked.

Ronald Reagan and the US Congress has a learning disability??? lol

The political left has been very successful in associating the political right with NAZIism and fascism. If you tell a lie long enough, people will believe it.

The NAZIs got much of their start in the US. The Swastika symbol predates Hitler and was in use by the American Socialist party well before 1933. It was one S laid atop another, standing for two socialists working together.

FDR can also be blamed for much of our current financial mess and bloated government. His administration was also responsible for Tuskegee experiment, infecting black Americans with syphilis without their knowledge or permission and tracking the progress of the disease.

Well there's truth in this as well. But scapegoating is a word with a definition. Had Taiwan attacked Pearl Harbor and FDR temporarily locked up Japanese you'd be closer to the meaning of the word "scapegoat." Hitler scapegoated Jews. The two were not the same n omatter how hard Pete EU (or his cheerleaders) wish it so.

1) A symbol and some racism didn't lead to any holocaust on American soil. Try as you may (and PeteEU really tries), Germans are solely to blame for their behaviors.

2) And our financial mess today is absolutely due to the reversal of the Glass–Steagall Act by Republicans and President Clinton. What began as a Reagan theme was realized by Clinton.

Stop being such a partisan stooge.

Ok, so we have....

1 learning disability and

2 partisan stooge.

Please continue....

On FDR - The practical problem with that viewpoint is that beginning with FDR the liberals in the legislative branch (unfortunately this has often been enabled by the frequently short sighted Judicial and Executive branches) have worked tirelessly to change the American tax code and social programs in such a way that literally half of the people in this country are paying no taxes. In fact the majority of those people are the recipient of wealth redistribution in the form of tax credits. I'm talking about people with minimum wage or part time jobs that make less than $20k a year and have kids. Right off the top of my head that hypothetical "family" would get 100% of withheld taxes back, and they will receive an "earned income tax credit" of up about $4500, and child tax credits of around $5k for each child. These people vote. ....And almost universally they will vote for more "progressive government" (aka "socialism").

Glass–Steagall Act. It's pretty much that simple and it crosses political lines. We had no economic problems until this 1933 law was revoked in 1999. Here, I'll even provide a link for you....

The political left has been very successful in associating the political right with NAZIism and fascism. If you tell a lie long enough, people will believe it.

Their staunch opposition to Communism and embrace of nationalistic fervor might have something to do with that. Conservatives are attempting to redefine their terms to avoid association with movements that have historically always been known as the Far Right, and unfortunately it's working.

The NAZIs got much of their start in the US. The Swastika symbol predates Hitler and was in use by the American Socialist party well before 1933. It was one S laid atop another, standing for two socialists working together.

I'd like to see evidence of the American socialists using the swastika; it's an ancient Germanic symbol that predates either the United States or modern Germany by centuries, symbolizing Thor's hammer in flight and representing protection and good fortune. This is the first I have ever heard of it being associated with socialist movements in general.

Apparently, the earliest known use of the swastika was dated back to 4000 BC. Archeologists found it engraved on pottery.
