My culture is not inadequate, our history has caused a problem that needs to be solved. If non-blacks tell me they will call me with more work, they don't.

If non-blacks say they will refer me to a friend, I never hear from them.

I find blacks don't trust or distrust people, and their trust is very hard to EARN.

I ended up quoting them 3850.00$ for the entire job. Alarm, CCTV, ect. He said 3500.00$ cash now. I said yes. He gave me 3500.00 right then. I never met these people before today. I have one white customer. He is the last customer I ever had working for someone else. my white boss tried to make me rip him off. I didn't. Instead of selling him 700$ dollars of equipment he didn't need. I fixed his existing for 150$. He asked me if I did work on the side. for the first time ever I said yes. I haven't looked back. Funny you mention the recent history. I like to say it was only 40 year ago that blacks could not drink out of the same water fountain. Those people are still rightfully mad. We didn't choose those names, they were chosen long ago, and it has become common and acceptable. America is a unique place in that it has so much diversity, and those that want to hold on to their culture and be a part of American culture as well, as a result, America is the only place I know of that hyphenates. It is up to you whether you think this is bad or not. IMO it only separates us if we allow it to separate us, otherwise, it could just teach us to appreciate various cultures. I really don't think it is a liberal conspiracy, that is pretty unwarranted, as these names have been used for quite a long time.

Let's take African American for example, 'African' is the adjective, but 'American' is the base noun, it is simply a way to describe what kind of American you are, b/c there are so many different kinds of Americans. The Founding Fathers meant America to be a place where you can practice your religion/culture freely, and people would tolerate it.

I mean animals are color blind well at least cats and dogs are. So I think its only fair. What do you all think?

Btw I love BET my favorite music is rap/hip hop/r&b. I guess it was becasue the growing up in tough hoods. It still rubbed off onme. But I think it should be unconstitutional to refer to race in any form of employment and any other areas. Of course it shouldnt be unconstitutionla of culture and such but I love all americans no matter what beleif or ethnicity you are. That should be the fore front of any american.

African-American can be a bit misleading, I have a friend who is from South Africa, this of course makes her an African American. The thing is, in her case, she is white.

Just the same, it’s not some “liberal ploy” to refer to someone’s race or ethnicity like “Asian-American” or “African-American”. It is rather just recognition that we as a nation are composed of different people, from different backgrounds, of different races and ethnicities. We are a cultural melting pot, and there are cultural and other differences between us. We are all Americans, but we are also more than that.

Undoubtedly, racism is still alive and well in this country. It exists on both sides, there are white and there are black racists. The difference is whites are the group in power, so while a black racists might just hate all white people, really, that is all that becomes of his or her hate. In contrast, a white racist and his hate for black people can in many cases help keep those who he hates down.

I am a White Male. I was raised poor, but just the same, I am pretty lucky to be born a white male. As a white male, I statistically live longer than blacks or Hispanics in this country. I statistically get to grow up in areas with far less crime than any other ethnicity, go to better schools, and I have a great deal more opportunity. In fact, I statistically earn more doing the same job than any other race does in America, or women for that matter. So really, I truly am lucky, because not only did I have the good fortune of being the one in fifty human beings in this world that get to be born in America, but I also was born as a white male and that automatically gave me a leg up on anyone one that is not a white male in our society. That’s not to say I have worked hard for the American dream, but just the same, I have statistically had it easier than any other race or women do in America.

Conservatives many time mischaracterize the ideals of liberals and progressives by saying that they want everyone to be absolutely equal, that they want everyone to earn the same and have the same standard of living. This is not the case, and has never been. The liberal and progressive ideal is to have an equal starting point. The ideal is not for people like me, white men, to statistically have such a leg up on anyone else in our society.
