The AFL-CIO approved a resolution saying that President Obama's health care overhaul will drive up the costs of union-sponsored health plans to the point that workers and employers are forced to abandon them
I thought obamacare was supposed to be a liberal plot. Watching you align yourself with unions I guess it's not.

Sounds like they aligned themselves with us.
I mean we HAVE been warning everyone and their dogs about that really stupid and destructive law even before it was passed.
And when we were doing that, the Unions were supporting Democrats.
Yea, they aligned themselves with us.
The unions argue this will decimate membership in their plans as employers dump union workers onto public exchanges.
But the Obama administration notes these Taft-Hartley plans fail multiple tests the law sets up for insurance plans that receive subsidies. They receive the tax break given to employer-based plans and they often don't follow "guaranteed issue" rules, meaning they don't offer insurance to anyone who wants it. All of this disqualifies them from the insurance marketplaces and the associated subsidies.
Greatest coup the business world ever pulled was convincing the loyal right-wingers that unions are bad for them.
Not aligning, just pointing out how the liberals that pushed this now want nothing to do with it...Keep in mind the old axiom....'progressive liberals don't have ideas that they themselves want to follow, they are only good for others'....

the unions don't like their members going to the exchanges... which is why they are seeking to change the law for themselves.Funny thing is, this being a foxnews story of course, they don't cite their sources much if at all. Even if anyone took foxnews for their word (heaven forbid), simply saying "highly disruptive" doesn't mean "we don't want it". They are digging for anyone saying anything negative and they are fabricating conflict where there is none.
No worries, healthcare exchanges are coming soon and fox will have their hands full trying to explain why people are getting more healthcare coverage with less costs while still telling us how this is all just terrible for you.

I can relate.. we have very good coverage.... we too have to decide if we are going to downgrade to inferior plans, scrap coverage altogether and push employees into the exchanges, or pay the fines for having the audacity to offer very good plans.
I have 5 years to decide before the penalties start (2018), so we'll see how it goes.
we're also exploring a self-insurance idea, but it doesn't look good... Democrats are attacking that option through legislation in many states.. i'm not sure it would be worth it to go after something that will be eventually barred.
they just don't want to be bound by it... they like agreed upon coverage and want to keep it..... no matter if it becomes unaffordable for the company to pay for it or not.
unions aren't the only ones facing these things.. I too have to decide if i'm going to downgrade our insurance, do away with it altogether and push the employees into the exchange market, or pay the fines to keep it.....i have the audacity to offer very good coverage, and Obama doesn't like that.
my apple cart was doing just fine until Obamacare upset it...now decisions have to be made.... none of results of those decisions will be "good"
I started a thread in the general politics on the market place exchange that's worth a look-see. I'm sure you are familiar with what I posted because it looks like you are following it closely. The unions just got smacked down by Obama when they tried to lobby him for extra bennies.
Funny how your "old axiom" bullcrap is you talking about a policy put forth by the Heritage Foundation. So much for "liberal" this and "progressive" that. But now that a Dem put THEIR policy out there all the sudden the Heritage Foundation wants to defund it and kill it. Shows you that conservatives don't stand for anything. Just against.

Obama is simultaneously in bed with his union buddies and destroying them. He is simultaneously a bumbling idiot and a devious stealth Muslim infiltrator bent on destroying America and freedom with this long-game three-dimensional chess match to implement socialist health care. He is simultaneously a Marxist and a Fascist. He is simultaneously worshiped by liberals as The Messiah and his approval ratings are tumbling because liberals can't stand him anymore.
No, the "Heritage Foundation" claim is just cover. I'm pretty sure that the Heritage foundation didn't have in it 17 new hidden taxes. I'm pretty sure that the Heritage foundation didn't have in it thousands of pages of regulations.
In any case, don't you think it might have helped this dud of a (now) law, if you progressive liberals would have been honest when passing it, let repubs into the process, not let the Apollo Alliance write the damned thing? Now your own liberal Union fellow travelers don't want it because they figured out it hits their Cadillac plans too, and you have trouble from within your own side of the isle....Not looking good.
That was an interesting turn. I didn't realize that they were running multi-employer plans and those are exempt from subsidies, but does that also mean that small business association plans, like COSE, are also exempt?
Liberal progressive bad herp derp.
Nowhere did I read that they don't want it. That seems to be fabricated by you.
