Yeah, but our founders didn't have ridicules pensions in mind nor a weak American citizenry
Pensions are a good thing.

Yes, the Number 1 reason the USPS constantly runs in the red is the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006... IIRC it was the Republicans who pushed this through, mostly to punish the USPS Union. In your link Issa is mentioned over and over.. I think that's all you need to know. Issa is an awful person and a liar on Trumpian scale.
Funding their pension 75 years in advance? No business on the planet does that.. It's ridiculous!!! They're funding their pension for future employees that haven't even been born yet, let alone they haven't even hired yet.
I see, so we keep letting the unFUNDED pensions to continue to go up....up.... and away!(LOL)
I think both sides went for that bill because the USPS was capable of a profit. When that happened, I looked at the data on the OMB website. Congress would take and spend the excesses. This forced the USPS to try to make more money, and legally made a place for congress to use it. I forget the number I found those years back, but the USPS also has an account with cash in it that congress seized.
How can this be true???Wow, 630,000 more lost jobs!
Wow, the Democrat imagination!
Where was Trump when the Lindbergh baby disappeared???
Why do you need a functioning mail services that delivers mail 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year if you only need it 5 times a year.I hate junk mail like the next guy, and I probably use the postal service for mailing my stuff less than five times a year. But, I still want a functional USPS. WTF, who would not?
Theres a compromise between the current system and going out of buisiness. If only they had the humility of my cable provider.
Businesses should be more like them, rather than the other way around.
I dont see letting the post office go out of business as a political winner, but maybe I'm missing something.
Democrats = DEEPLY troubled by the imaginary misdeeds of Trump
Same Democrats = Don't care that QPJ Biden's accused of rape
:donkeyfla
Agreed.
But how is that going to make those people lose their jobs?
Problem is the USPS CAN NOT make more money without Congress's OK.. The Post Office has often wanted to cut expenses by closing unprofitable offices and cutting out Saturday delivery..
But Congress says no. That's the weird thing, the USPS actually runs as a private type company BUT Congress holds it's purse strings.. So the USPS can't do a damn thing without Congress's OK.
I'm not just blaming the GOP for the USPS woes.. But don't pretend the bill of 2006 wasn't mostly the Republicans idea.. They pushed it through.

Are you going to forced to participate in a socialized healthcare system?
Without post offices, we can forget about voting by mail, something the GOP is irrationally frightened of.
I have seen it suggested that post offices add banking to their services, which seems to make a lot of sense. Much of the country is unbanked in areas where banks decline to go.
I'm forced to fund the fire department.
I'm not pretending a damn thing. You seem to be another who just listens to someone's propaganda, and believe it's true because it fits your confirmation bias.
This bill passed congress without anyone on either side asking for a vote count. It passed with a voice vote. That speaks volumes of how much overwhelming support it had from both sides.

Are you a fireman?
You really need to change your 'Libertarian' tag...
Have a nice day.
Why?
Are you under the assumption that libertarians don't seek the facts?
You are as 1-sided as any poster on this site. You don't care about facts, especially if those 'facts' portray the GOP in a bad light. This USPS thread is a perfect example..
I'm saying no more, I'd hate to get in trouble here on Easter.
Have a Happy Easter.. Stay safe.
No, I am a pilot.
Wait, are you saying it's different because I'm not forced to become a fireman?
So, you aren't forced to participate in, or be a member of the service, nor the fire department?
And universal healthcare does not force you to become a doctor. Correct!
