About 1,400 killed in Hamas attack. Israel has killed over 7,000 Gazans and counting. 1.4 million displaced.

Who cares?

I don't care if someone dies because they got raped to death or their home collapsed on top of them. There isn't any reason to differentiate between them.

It matters a great deal to the relatives of the people raped until their pelvises fractured and then beheaded.

That's not just murder. That's depraved and inhuman brutality.

It does not follow that the people of Gaza should die in their thousands because of the crimes of a handful of terrorists. Bombing hospitals is also an atrocity.

Nor should we be keeping score for the purpose of settling an account. This shouldn't keep going until the lust for revenge is satiated on either side, or until the IDF reaches whatever ratio of dead Palestinians to Israelis it considers "just".
