A Lot Of Americans Don't Like What DOGE Is Doing. How Can Americans Shut Down DOGE?

What are some possible ways to shut down DOGE?

Over these next four years, I would love nothing more than to see young progressives pull a Tea Party-style revolution and cut the legs out from under the neo-liberal Democratic Old Guard, tearing it apart and reform the Democratic Party into an FDR-style progressive populist political party once again. The Democratic leadership who have spent too long catering to donors and listening to the idiot consultant class need to be thrown out of both office and leadership.

The American people need a party that actually fights for them and fulfills their needs. The Democratic Party cannot seek to be relevant while barely maintaining the Social Safety net that was put in place over 80 years ago, while mainly catering to the needs of people worth $100 million+, while offering some means-tested table scraps for the rest of us.

It just might happen. The wind is in the sails of the progressive wing of the party right now.

The question is whether that enthusiasm can translate into votes outside safely blue districts and states. Right now, that's the wild card.

Well yeah. It has to be working-class focused message. Medicare for All. Raising the minimum wage for everyone. Just things like that can and would be life changing.

This.

The dems are useless in the face of adversity.

After DOGE gets done trashing the place, that might even fly.

Come to think of it, that's the least violent possible outcome.

That is the only silver lining on a very black cloud.

That after Donald Trump destroys the Administrative State, it would be a new Congress's and Administration's opportunity to build a whole social safety system from scratch while learning from the mistakes of the past...with the chief mistake among them being not to arrest enough people and charge them with insurrection as soon as they commit it.

Oh, I see a couple of other silver linings, but they mostly appeal to my baser instincts.

But what if democrats become the Majority Party in next year's midterms? (and it looks like they might)

Couldn't the Senate introduce a resolution to shut down DOGE with a majority Floor vote?
Too early to tell who will hold the majority. In the senate, the republicans have 22 seats up vs. 13 for the democrats. But only 2 republican seats are at risk of switching as of today. Maine, North Carolina. Maine will probably go democratic. But the democrats have 4 seats at risk of switching, Georgia, Michigan, New Hampshire and Minnesota. The democrats aren’t going to take back the senate.

The house could be a different story, again as of today, the democrats have 22 house seats at risk of switch vs. 18 for the republicans. All these numbers will change as time goes by. Unless most Americans become enthralled with Trump or come to despise him, there won’t be much of a change from today. People are fairly evenly divided on Trump so far and the prospects of the midterms.

Having a little trouble hearing the truth, are you? While you're stuck a retorical ledge with your indefensible positions why not just admit you're wrong? You're making a clown of yourself and it's a little embarrassing.
"...While you're stuck on a rhetorical ledge with your indefensible positions,...."
Ah, petty as well wrong on everything. Aren't you proud!

Point that "petty" finger at yourself. No insults or name-calling on my part, even though you engaged in it. All I did was correct your spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

(But thanks for letting me know my helpful corrections triggered you....)

Yes, and that just might be the epitome of pettiness...unless, of course, you've never made any keyboard errors.

But your shit doesn't stink....right? LOL

Which answer are you looking for?
Looking for???

I want someone to come up with some way to shut down DOGE. I think my way (i.e., Congress resolution to shut DOGE down) is the most viable.

How would you propose to shut down DOGE?
Obviously, a fake insurrection. You know, and have a bipartisan committee that includes Liz Cheney. Get them tied up in the process. Make them impotent.
That's creative. I like it.

Do you think your way - both Houses of Congress pass resolutions to shut DOGE down - has any chance of being effected?

Nope, I make mistakes the same as everyone else.

Namecalling, not mistakes, in this post:

That you can dish insults but take umbrage at having your grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors pointed out is apparent.

How realistic do you think your way - both Houses of Congress pass resolutions to shut DOGE down - would be effected?
The GOP has a razor-thin majority in Congress right now - - only a few dissenters would be enough to turn Congress against DOGE, and force them to disband.

Recently, polls suggest that some GOP critters oppose the efforts of DOGE and would vote to shut it down. So the question is:

Does Congress even have the power to shut it down? I think they do, but many have argued that they don't.

I'm not used to debating with sensitive people. I'll just put you on ignore so you won't get offended.

Republicans set the agenda in the Houses of Congress.

I doubt Johnson or Thune is going to permit votes on non-binding resolutions that DOGE be shut down.

Call me whatever makes you feel good.

But you, despite your willingness to engage in name-calling, surely do appear triggered by my correction of your punctuation, grammar, and spelling.

Interesting combination: you dish it out (name-calling), but you don't want to get anything in return. Oh, wait, I've seen this particular personality type: trump exhibits similar traits.

I see no problem with pointing out that musk is / is reputed to be autistic.

That's why I asked if the term was being used as a pejorative. But thanks for your opinion.

If they fail to start publicizing a logical, rational, agent soon, they[re toast. 27% confidence is not a good sign.
Any political party that was dumb enough to keep a senile president in a critical race when everyone knew his condition deserves to suffer the end results.
Talk about giving Trump the greatest gift of all by defaulting to a candidate that everyone knew was not up to the job of being the leader of the free world.

Arson isn't going to work obviously. Various congressional and judicial appeals might. But it takes willpower and that seems to be lacking even in the opposition.

I don't think they can literally shut it down through a vote but they could exercise their Constitutional power of the purse and force money to be spent as allocated and they could provide proper oversight. However, they won't because that means House leadership taking action and they won't.
