A Lot Of Americans Don't Like What DOGE Is Doing. How Can Americans Shut Down DOGE?

What are some possible ways to shut down DOGE?

I would answer but I’m afraid Trump would revoke my security clearance.

I don’t have one but that hasn’t stopped him in the past.
Non-zero chance he grants you one just so he can make a show of taking it away.

Thats exactly what it is doing.
That's what they SAY they're doing.

It isn't what they're doing.

OR at least, if they are, they're doing it so ham-handedly that they're causing more inefficiency than they remove.

Many people are unhappy with DOGEs efforts to trim government waste and fraud, and many people don't like the DOGE Director, Elon Musk.

What are some ways to shut it down?

Congress
Supreme Court Judge
Impeachment
Arson

or maybe some other ways?
According to a the latest poll, more people like DOGE than dislike it.

And the best way to shut it down is to win the next election.

And that’s good enough for Fletch!

I mean- when hasn’t Trump been straight with us and told us the truth? Right?

There will be another election in 2028. Until then, you are out of luck
Midterms are in 2026. If townhall meetings keep going for MAGA-mites as they have been, and/or if those Congressional MAGA-mites choose to stop having them...they will start to face challengers from their own party before 2025 is done. Please note: I am NOT saying there will be a blue wave, but rather a wave of conservatives who see DOGE as a terrible idea and will pick up voters who got hurt by DOGE. You will also start to see some MAGA-mites try to isolate Musk from Trump in their rhetoric, so that they can bash Musk and still support Trump.

Trump has always been about Trump. We have already seen his willingness to dump people if it serves his purposes. I think that is how DOGE will end. He will see angry conservatives hate on Musk while MAGA-mite politicians try to distance themselves from Musk as well as newer conservatives ready to kick out the incumbents....and he will pivot like he always does and Musk gets thrown out and/or DOGE's influence will be minimized to a great degree. Someone has to take the fall: it will be Musk.

When the Republicans get hammered in the mid terms and lose control we'll see what happens.

I predict not much as Trump will just refuse to sign any Dem legislation however sensible without even reading it.

IMO the ONLY people "unhappy with DOGE's efforts" are people who either depended on the graft discovered or were directing the graft that was discovered which gave them influence.

Why would anyone not invested in the graft and influence peddling want to shut DOGE down?

Moreover, recall that Obama and a younger Biden talked about doing something similar:

I'm pretty sure the people who voted for Trump did not expect an unvetted billionaire and his tech minions to be allowed to run roughshod through the federal government.
Your rather biased painting of what is going on aside, Trump was pretty clear about it when campaigning.

I have great respect for Boston University but I'd be sceptical of the use of predictive models and calculations. BTW, for those who think the church only does evil, the Methodist Church has founded many great universities including Boston University, Duke, Emory, and Syracuse.

If the Democrats win the midterms, there won't be any Democratic legislation, just an endless parade of impeachments and investigation hearings.

But what if democrats become the Majority Party in next year's midterms? (and it looks like they might)

Couldn't the Senate introduce a resolution to shut down DOGE with a majority Floor vote?
By what authority? Doge operates as an advisory board to the POTUS and was created by EO. Congress does not have the authority to dictate to the president who his advisors are.

DOGE will continue to serve the president until he alone decides otherwise.

I don't think that prospect is looking good at this point in time. People (including Democrats) aren't very happy with how the Democrats in Congress are doing. They are dealing with a lot of in-fighting between the "Young Radicals" and the "Old Guard."

The Young Radicals are going full-on Socialist, with AOC in the lead. The Old Guard still support the efforts of the established leadership.

Which answer are you looking for?

Trump was already in office for four years. What is this new beginning of which you speak?

....some near-autistic white guy who knows about rockets in space, satellite terminals creating internet access....
I doubt he actually knows much about those things. He apparently knows how to multiply money. With money you can hire people who DO know about those things.

We do not want it shut down. It I wonderful if it can save hundreds of billions of dollars.

None of your poll options work.

The first and third are out of the picture due to Congress being loyal to Donald in its current session.

The 2nd has been proven irrelevant since SCOTUS has no enforcement authority and can at best express opinions.

The 4th doesn’t actually stop DOGE.

The only option is to let DOGE ruin enough American lives in order to enrich Elon that we have different leadership in Congress in 2026 and some of your poll options become relevant again.

Between now and then, Americans should work with their state legislatures on mechanisms to reduce federal tax revenue, send that revenue to states then let states cover shortfalls in government services.
I like this idea. All employed Americans should increase their W-4 number of dependents to the maximum allowable number. This will dramatically decrease revenue into the federal treasury. Worry about paying your taxes next year. The IRS will be so gutted, I doubt they will be able to do much about it.

It would send a signal to Trump and his billionaire buddies that they are not going to get our money.

That’s fair, but I think there is strong reason to believe people have died as a result of these policy changes.
