A Eulogy, or a campaign convention?

Give me a break.......Clinton was pushing the "Ice Princess" Hillary for president............What the hell did that have to do with honoring Mrs King?

I guess you missed Carter's outrageous comments huh..........

Typical Clinton hater not sure why you even try.

He is a typical Bush hater and lives in a world of his own..........Not much use trying to debate him.....I don't know why I try......

I'm sure glad I don't live in your world....

The sky is blue in mine, what color is the sky in yours?

Did you even listen to Clinton?

Did YOU? The very 1st line he spoke was a direct shot at George Sr. yeah, i know - it was a good spirited openning joke.

Bush Jr threw Clinton a bone by asking him to join up with Sr to raise money for katrina. He immediately used the platform to criticize bush. He can NOT get in the public eye without seizing the opportunity to stick in some jabs!

So stop blowing sunshine up everyone's skirts about how everyone else got down and dirty, but he gave such a truly poetic and moving eulogy!

There is a policy that EX presidents do not criticize sitting presidents.......Its a matter of class.......Obviously Carter and Clinton have very little.......

Oh, I seem to remember a certain former first lady telling Connie Chung Hilary was a "Bitch".

Yes I listened and I heard what an American politician should and would say when in the public eye.

So we're not allowed to talk about our current president or his dad in a negative way?

I remember watching a little history program about Deitrich Bonnehoffer, You know, the guy who tried to kill Hitler? Well that didn't start until after Bonnehoffer went on the radio and started criticizing 'ol Adolph and was cut off in mid sentance first.

Deja Vu.

Some women consider being called a "Bitch" a compliment, maybe that's what she was doing?

Sarcasm...

And I met her & Bill Clinton a few times when he was governor of Arkansas, he's really nice and personable in person... Her? A bit cold & aloof, almost bitchy... Of course that could just be me... But that's before she went into politics, she was just the First Lady of a small southern state... before she became a New Yorker...

I would not hold my breath if I were you.....Thank God she has zero chance to ever be elected president but I sure hope she gets the dem nomination......Its the best thing that could happen to the republican party and conservatives.......

Its because I know that I can laugh (and hopefully we can laugh together) at some of the jumps you make. You can get hopped up over the directions on shampoo because it says "Apply liberally" on the bottle. :rofl

Unfortunately, the perception of presidents is affected by the perceptions of first ladies.

I guess I should have said 'pee'.

And because he liked to pee on things.

I knew what you were saying, I was being a friendly smart-*** this time...

He liked to pee on things, among other things... something about him pulling his... baby-maker... out... Got him in trouble... If he hadn't gotten convicted, he might not have gone to Paris, he might not have died and who knows? We might have had some more good Doors music to be listening to...

But that's WAY off subject...

I know, but we're not going to agree on this so I thought we could joke around. I'm really not here to make enemies... or friends really, but hey if we all saw things the same way this site would be quite boring.

Disagreeing & healthy debate is all good and I love debating. A lot of times I take the devil's advocate position just to debate. But...

I don't understand all the hatred, vitriolity and demonization in politics today.... Present company excluded...

I don't know how it got to this point or even to get it back to healthy debate. I sincerely believe that people on both sides of the aisle really, really, really hate people who disagree with them and that's a tad disturbing...

I'll get off my civility soapbox now... Back to the ring... lol

I think people on both sides need to stop listening to pundits. Push for better news coverage with less emphasis on the opinion of it's organization's CEO and just report the darn news.

maybe then people will start making their own minds up instead of letting some overbearing loud mouth do it for them.

Anyway, may we meet again on different ground.

Of course not, even when they make a personal attack like he did, he says it WASN'T a personal attack & insult....

He was attacking president reagan, which you are not. also, behavior at the RNC Convention, which you did not organize. Therefor it was not a personal attack, especially not one to you. What's more, is since reagan is dead and decaying, thus has not person anymore, it could not be a personal attack on him, right?

My point at the time, 3 and a half hours ago, which I'm now over Saboteur, was...

Why do you have to make a personal attack against anyone to make your political point? Especially since it didn't seem germane to the point at hand...

We were discussing why they were doing a tribute at the RNC and then he blasted him about his naps, jelly beans, etc... True? Possibly... Partisan rhetoric? Definately....

Well, I've been known to claim that Ronald Reagan single handedly ruined my childhood (jokeing) because of all those NATO activations everytime the Russians moved a couple of missles. But now I realize that it wasn't him as much as the sensationalization of the situation by the media and the Russians.

Sure I said somethings about naps and jelly beans but those aren't what really bothered me about him. When the media took us on a virtual tour of his colin at dinner time it was a little over the top, but still not what bothered me about him. Still pretty scared by the media though. It was the fear generated by the cold war and my impression of it put on him.

Now that I think about it I actually miss him as president. At least everybody tried to love him.
