Look for actual solutions and not blaming an object would be a good start. Better education leads to less crime. Stricter punishments for murdering someone or for attempted murder. The Death Penalty should be used more. Make it easier to put crazy people in the looney bin. Restrict the CPS to only go after case of actual child abuse...not people that simply spank thier children a couple times on the butt.

And most of all...instill a sense of responsibility in people.

You hear no blame from me, just desperate thoughts. I heard no blame from you, just ideas. Too bad all of these gun threads on DP wind up being manure-throwing contests. You don't have to be a genius to see which "side" throws the most manure. I'm tired of sides.

Are you saying that it's impossible for someone to buy a gun at a gun show without all the above? How much are you willing to bet that I can't walk into a gun show, buy a gun with no questions asked?

Great example of what we need to do. Empty out the buildings of bangers in high crime areas and maintain Martial law. Start with the South Austin and West Pullman areas.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that young black men killing other young black men, even innocent bystanders, in Chicago is not going to generate much in the way of national publicity and may not even lead to trials, considering the frequency. You'd get more interest in the public for the next offering of the McRib sandwich.

you really don't understand this situation very well. less than 2% of all guns obtained by criminals come from gun shows and that includes those who were not criminals when they bought them or those who obtained firearms through straw purchasers or corrupt FFLs.

I used to work gun shows for a client dealer. half the dealers had cops or retired LEOs working for them. lots of cops are there buying guns, selling guns or looking for mopes. Its far safer to buy a gun on the street. I will not say its impossible but its not nearly the problem garment soiling anti gun members of the press and the pimps in office make it out to be. and people like you who don't know much about this issue act as if its a major source of guns for mopes

The only hate we see is by anti gun extremists who are upset that "the gun culture" is a major roadblock in the democratic party's rush towards a socialist state

LOL, you again are talking out of your shorts. There might be a few corrupt dealers but that would be the same at their store. you seem to think that if people violate the laws we have, the only solution is to pass more laws

Actually I would be that it is harder now than it use to be. Particularly with people like Bloomberg conducting stings in states where they don't even reside in. With all the current focus on gun shows it would be idiotic in the extreme for a criminal to go to one to buy a gun...much less a dealer sell one to someone they know is not allowed to have one.
 
Illinois is beyond hope, everyone can see that. It's the Midwest's embarrassing little brother.
 
72 shot in 48 ours equals 1.5 per hour. 12 dead, 60 shot. A 5 yr. old boy and a 72 yr.old woman are included. Now, do they need GUN control or GANG control? If you were hovering over this city in a chopper you would see flashes of light constantly. Keep in mind these numbers on show how many were shot, not how many shots were fired. These numbers show random firing twenty-four hours a day, not just at night. Chicago has been the heartbeat of democrats since it was founded. Are these the same democrats that walk arm in arm down the streets in the name of peace and harmony? Apparently no political movement can affect this wholesale slaughter. Accordingly, Chicago may end up looking like Detroit in ten years.
 
I know a lot of people who carry legally, I mean a LOT. Not one of them has ever used their carry weapon to threaten or hurt anyone else. Last weekend one of ours, an absolutely HUGE guy we call Yeti (He's well over 6 1/2 feet tall and 330 pounds last time I asked) was accosted by two men last weekend outside a bar, evidently intent on ganging up on the biggest guy they could find. When he stepped back and reached for his carry (a 40 cal Glock), he asked "Are you sure you want to do this?". They backed off, and rightly so. This shows that anyone can be a victim, or at least an intended victim. Yeti was certainly not looking for trouble. He is well known and respected in the community, a fire department dispatcher, EMT, and the medical officer of our local CERN chapter.
 
Indeed. The vast, vast majority of those who purchase and carry firearms legally use them legally or not at all.
