The last ten Democratic nominees for President:

2024 - Kamala Harris (U.S Senator, Vice President)
2020 - Joe Biden (U.S Senator, Vice President)
2016 - Hilary Clinton (First Lady, U.S Senator, Secretary of State)
2008 & 2012 - Barack Obama (U.S Senator)
2004 - John Kerry (U.S Senator)
2000 - Al Gore (U.S Senator & Vice President)
1992 & 1996 - Bill Clinton (Governor)
1988 - Michael Dukakis (Governor)
1984 - Walter Mondale (U.S Senator, U.N Ambassador, Vice President)
1980 & 1976 - Jimmy Carter (Governor)

Seven were U.S Senators. Three were Governors. Four were former Vice Presidents.

According to the latest Echelon Insights and Morning Consult polls, Kamala Harris is averaging about 42%, Gavin Newsom & Pete Buttigieg at 8%, Tim Walz at 7%, and Josh Shapiro at 6%. Democratic voters still really love Harris, despite losing the popular vote and getting less electoral college votes than Hilary Clinton. All five of those names will be in the poll.

I will add Gretchen Whitmer (Governor of Michigan 2019-present), Wes Moore (Governor of Maryland 2023 to present), and Andy Beshear (2019-present). My wildcard entry here is going to be Jon Stewart.

Please pick three candidates.

Way too early to predict. Depends a lot on what Harris does during the next two years.

I like the assumption that democracy will exist in 4 years. My guess is they're going to elect someone white as their nominee and try to appeal to white voters because they'll believe they'll shore up their flank with minorities in the next 4 years.

Shapiro or Moore......but don't count Jefferies out.

From of that list, using "should" as a qualifier? Shapiro is your best bet.

Breshear, maybe.

The issue with those two is: Will the far left wing of the party allow it? They have pretty much dominated the party for the last 5 elections.

Could be a dark-horse candidate that shows up. Who knows? As you say, way too early to tell.

The far left wing was totally absent in the campaign of Kamala Harris. It seems some have moved so far to the right that they see moderates as left wing.

"Trump will be the last President ever elected!!!1111!11!!"

But also.....

"Here's who I think will be the 2028 Dem Presidential candidate."

:p

Harris isn't "far left". She's sort of left.

Bill Clinton was a centrist. Obama was a centrist.

Biden is a centrist.

Hillary Clinton is a centrist.

I really don't know how you come up with "the far left wing of the party has pretty much dominated the Democrats for the last five elections." From a factual point of view, your analysis is way off the mark. Looks as if you're repeating a MAGA talking point that doesn't represent reality.

Harris is cooked in politics. There's no recovery from this. Plus, she is a terrible candidate that can't persuade any new supporters from those outside diehard Democratic Party voters.

If anyone on this poll is going to stand a chance in 2028, they'd better get to work fast on rebranding their image a center-left candidate or they too will not stand a chance.

None of the above. A DC outsider, a successful businessman or woman, and one who is a moderate Democrat will come down the escalator and you know how the rest goes.

Way too soon, BrotherFease, way too soon.

Governor from a blue State past or present who has dealt with split legislatures with some successes to point to would be ideal for me personally.

Will support the candidate regardless who is nominated by the Party. That's how I roll as a Democrat.

Someone who can appeal to blue-collar workers in flyover states.

Other. The DNC needs to raise the most money possible and that means finding a woke candidate, preferably female and a minority, and who is 100% supportive and submissive to the entrenched bureaucracy and loves being a puppet. My guess is the DNC is already grooming AOC for 2028. She is perfect. She is just like Super Kamala! but even less intelligent and doesn't have a cackle laugh. And she is perfectly willing to go along with painting all her opposition as Hitler. She can read a teleprompter as long as there are no big words. And if they persuade her to becoming trans the left can call everyone who doesn't vote for her/him/it/WTF a racist misogynist transphobic Nazi supporter. She is the ideal choice. And most importantly, she will get Taylor Swift's endorsement. We all know how important that is.

Harris............................. is finished. She's likeable in a "fun to party with" kind of way, but a empty suit when it comes to domestic and foreign affairs.

Booty.......................All he knows is racist highways. A complete failure as the DOT boss.

Walz................ The combat veteran won't have time to run as he will be still figuring out how to load that shotgun correctly. Biggest poser in decades.

Newsom............. Fiscal & regulatory nightmare on steroids.

You just defined the demonrats without defining the demonrats. Here's another: I am for and against Israel depending on who I am talking to at the time.

You’re describing “Big Gretch” (Gretchen Whitmer.)

Americans electing a sexual abuser, stealer of cancer money from kids, and felon prove that Democrats need to find someone as repulsive.
Americans rejecting Harris prove that they don't want a female nor a person of color. It has to be some chalky white old man.
Democrats are disillusioned if they think Harris or Whitmer or Buttigieg have a chance of winning.

I really don’t care anymore. The democrats are trash as are the republicans.

If the democrats somehow pull their heads out of their asses and nominate an actual left winger call me.

the candidate will be the one most easiest controlled by the $$$$$$$ donors
