According to one active duty nurse in NY, the hospital where she worked was mishandling patients in a way that almost guaranteed they would die, and quickly. Rumor had it the hospital got a large sum of money for every COVID patient it admitted, giving administrators incentive to keep the bodies moving.

Not true! 4545 people died (as of 8-16-20) in NY nursing homes. 2.4% of US total deaths (185K) and declining since NY state is averaging less than 10 deaths per day for the past few months. Texas has 2844, PA 3891, FL 2366.

But 11,000 is sadly the correct number of deaths. NY counts Covid deaths differently. If someone catches Covid in a NY nursing home, then is transferred to a hospital and dies, it's not counted as a nursing home death. Other states still count that as a nursing home death.

What could we have done? Locked down more? You mean a 33% drop in GDP and over 11% unemployment wasn't good enough for you? You want more? You support a president who wants much higher numbers than that? Every single country on the planet who locked down and then opened back up is having increased cases.

The fact is mask mandates don't work. The young invincible liberals are going to go to bars, beaches, parties, and protests without wearing masks, whether there is a mask mandate or not. The left's position seems to be that if people actually followed a mask mandate then it would work, even though the mask mandate obviously doesn't even work in liberal land because not even liberals follow it.

We have less deaths.

But I prefer looking in the other direction. Maybe it would help to look at the countries that do a better job and learn from them and adapt their methods.
