(YouTube) ICE Officer Arrested for DUI w/ Kids in Car. Not Happy About it!

Pretty sad incident, but a much larger tragedy was avoided by taking him off the road while impaired.
That situation came about because of a series of poor choices.
A federal law enforcement officer should show good judgement. He did not.
(As an aside, the local LEOS in this video acted professionally, did their job responsibly, and exhibited enormous patience. They should be commended.)
I hope the drunk driver in this case is not in any way typical of DHS officers. He does not belong in law enforcement position. But I do hope he gets his life together, and learns from his mistakes.
In the larger view, I feel for all DHS employees, as they are suffering from extremely poor leadership.
The other person showing good judgement is not shown; the drunk guy's wife who is divorcing him.

Eventually he admitted that he had multiple drinks (3-4 if I remember correctly - and not beers, drinks)

First - I’ve got a MAJOR problem with ANYONE that has multiple drinks and gets behind the wheel. That only compounds with KIDS in the car.

Don’t drink and drive. Period. It really isn’t that big an ask.

There is NO excuse for drinking and driving. Zero.

Wearing a bar’s promotional shirt was a nice touch. ;)

I stumbled across this video while surfing through YouTube, and immediately thought of DP. I had no idea where to post it, so I'm dropping it here.

I don't usually post media of this nature and length, but if you've got some time to chill - I believe it's well worth a view. At the least, I believe its worth a short preview to see if it piques your interest.

Needless to say, over the course of the video this ICE agent will exhibit virtually every poor behaviour & attitude we see in the greater Agency as it operates in the public. Perhaps most striking is the absolute irony present, as the agent comes to grips with personally dealing with being the recipient of the very acts he perpetrates upon others on a daily basis (separation from one's children).

I'll also add: The YouTuber comments have not been kind to the agent. They're an interesting read in themselves, often expounding upon the irony present.

I don't know if anyone else remembers, but in the very early days of the TSA, a lot of officers behaved as if they could do whatever they wanted, and some
took their little power trip way too far. This was back when I first started doing data cable installation at airports around the country post 9/11.
TSA was a very belligerent agency back then, drunk on their power.

Well, ICE used to behave a lot differently until Trump came to power and supercharged their belief in their mission, and now they are doing a lot of the things TSA did, and much worse.
I'm not saying this to suggest ICE agents will quietly begin acting more civil, I am just noticing some familiar patterns with government overreach, that's all.

The Proud Boys, but with a badge and a gun.
Absolutely no question about it.
Trump pardoned the J6 insurrectionists and I'm sure a lot of them had trouble finding jobs.
Now they are being recruited, I'll bet money on it.

A "Sanctuary City" for ICE agents? If there were such a thing, DeSantis' State of Florida would surely be it!

(I also suspect him being a Floridian may add to his arrogance in his position and the matter of his arrest)
So he might be held to a different standard than others?

Figures.

I'm glad he was stopped and taken off the road where he won't put his children and other motorists in danger with his own bad personal choices.

And after his whole "Are you Haitian?" bit I don't particularly care what happens to him either.

Ha. Just another drunk, evil white supremacist thinking he is above the law. He was treated quite nicely.

ICE thugs are garbage.

Driving drunk with their kids in the car is not at all shocking.

More indication that he was under the influence. I wonder what medication(s) he was on and what his BAC was. He kept emphasizing his pending divorce, likely knowing that this DUI with his kids in the vehicle will hurt his chances for custody and/or visitation.
Maybe he should have thought about that before he got loaded and drove his kids around.

Can see why he said it matters. 😁

Wonder what position maga will find for him now, because he's the real "victim".

I watched the entire video.
Other than him claiming to be ICE and no badge to show for, how sure can we be that he is what he claims to be?

As for the officer talking to him, wow, so professional and polite t/o. Those guys must have extra training in patience.

We can't, but I'll paraphrase a quote from Sean Connery's character, Chicago PD Officer Jim Malone, in The Untouchables:

"Who would claim to be that, who was not?"

According to the source below, he had a .17 BAC - which is pretty wasted.

The source has a lot of detailed follow-up data.

Here:

Follow-up:

Here's some follow-up on this case, though I cannot vouch for the source as I'm not familiar with it.

The good news for the agent is DHS is standing behind him allowing him to keep his job, and Prosecutors dropped the Felony Child Endangerment charge, leaving the agent with only two misdemeanor charges (DUI & Non-Violent Resisting).

In an odd twist, it appears the arresting officer was charged with DUI in 2023! The outcome of the officer's case cannot be determined though, because the Florida court has marked the case "Confidential" - sealing it from public view.

It is not known whether Governor DeSantis will pardon either of the above individuals. But it does appear law enforcement officers receive extremely positive DUI criminal case outcomes.

I've linked below, to the source of the above information. It's a good read.

Looks like everyone involved displayed good judgement, except the agent. Even the "Haitian".

Agreed. The bolded was the icing on the cake, showing his true colours.

Hey! He's a hard dedicated worker.

Even while drunk, off duty, and driving his kids around, he found a Haitian!

If that ain't dedication, I don't know what is?

ICE has acknowledged the agent is one of theirs. They've allowed him to remain employed, placing him in an administrative position.

In an ironic twist of fate, in 2023 the arresting officer received a DUI while employed in his current law-enforcement job. His DUI case has been marked "Confidential" by the court, closing it from public view.

ICE claimed the agent as one of theirs.

I've supplied links and info in the posts immediately above, including information about the arresting officer's own recent DUI.

In an odd twist, it appears the arresting officer was charged with DUI in 2023!

The officer told the ICE agent that repeatedly during the encounter.
