YouTube doesn't like progressives having bad ratios.

There are many times where YouTube has censored their ratios. They did it for Disney's poor ratio for Star Wars and Biden vids.
Content creators have long had that option. Don't blame it on YouTube, except that they have for years given creators/uploaders that option. That some chose it doesn't support your dumb CT, or that YouTube is engaged in 'censoring' those ratios.

Apparently YouTube is removing dislikes on videos from being scene by anyone on all videos now. We all know they've done this on case by case instances where there was some far-left idiocy going on but now they are just going to make it the standard policy. More silencing of the opposition and the protection of the asylum by the tech industries.

The annoying side effect is this will effect instructional and information videos, where the ratio gave you a good idea if the video you are watching is good or not, or has the correct information.

YouTube has announced that it’ll be hiding public dislike counts on videos across its site, starting today. The company says the change is to keep smaller creators from being targeted by dislike attacks or harassment, and to promote “respectful interactions between viewers and creators.” The dislike button will still be there, but it’ll be for private feedback, rather than public shaming.
I actually think this is a good idea, and my reasoning has nothing to do with politics.

I think it is a good idea to prevent cyber bullying of kids.

Little Jane Doe makes a YouTube video…John Doe in her class sees it and decides that he’s going to hit the “dislike” button…and then shares the link with a bunch of his friends asking them to do the same.

Perhaps even starts making fun of Jane. And his post about her video goes slightly viral in their little kid/teen sphere.

Get rid of dislikes…and then you can prevent that type of bullying of kids.

Disney is far-left, most of mass media is far left or dominated by far left ideology. I don't think Biden himself is far-left but his appointments and policies have been. Far-left dominates the left's narratives.
LOL, Disney isn't "far left" on anything that matters, except maybe, maybe social issues. And if they are "far left" on that, it's because being on the "far left" on social issues (i.e. right of the dead Rush Limbaugh) makes them a lot of money, which is to say they are capitalists, maximizing profits.

You would know that from the down votes. Are you ok?

I don’t need down votes to determine if a video is likely to be good or not.

I also don’t use YouTube to get my current event and political information. Nor do I use Facebook for that as well or Twitter

Your questions make me think you read things you didn't understand. The nutter progressive videos get bad ratios, so that is why the policy was put in place.
Did you actually think that made sense when you typed it?

Do you think conservative videos never, ever, ever got any dislikes?

Seriously?

Nope...but the woke leftist ones definitely pull the worse ratios in general. Then, as the left is wont to do, they want to shut down any criticism and opposition. It's the main way they keep their unpopular ideas floating at the top, through control.

Huh, amazing how you know this but never show your work. It's almost like you make it up as you go! 🤪 🥴

Nope.
We don't 'all know' the paranoid and delusional things that you think you know.
Obviously you are posting from your John Birch email chains.
Kudos on posting more crazy garbage.

I have a feeling this is to placate some big advertisers who don't like their videos being disliked.

Hahahahah is that the spin you people are going with? This is about protecting progressives? LMAO

Far-left Disney. LMAO.

Imagine being such a political extremist that you think corporate profit-mongering is "far left."

Oh, do they? Spend a lot of time statistically analyzing dislike ratios, did you?

Why do you progressives rush to defend the richest and most powerful corporations, people and white racists on earth? I mean its like you worship them.
You see that as different than defending the most powerful nation, its "exceptionalist" people and racist institutions like you worship it?

I think it is an outrage that DP doesn't have a downvote option! I think all of us hardcore Trump supporters should immediately leave this board and never come back! That'll teach'em!
DP...Survivor Edition. That has some real possibilities.

Forum: Bias in the Media

Thread title: "YouTube doesn't like progressives having bad ratios."

Actual fact as reported in the OP: "YouTube has announced that it’ll be hiding public dislike counts on videos across its site, starting today."

So this new policy will provide a kinder, gentler experience for everyone, but somehow it is bias in the media?

Has this been explained yet in the thread?

I'll go read the rest of the posts now and see if the mystery is solved.

Yeah, a six-year-old Australian kid I knew was getting dislikes on some of his hobby-related videos that he was making with his dad.

I was horrified that anyone would do that to a kid. And that the kid would see it.

Now the child who has continued his hobby and is about eight will still be able to see the dislike count, but hopefully there will be fewer dislikes over all without crappy people getting that visual feedback of what they're doing.

Perhaps because we are not authoritarians and believe corporations are free to run their businesses as they see fit. As long as they comply with health and employee welfare regulations that is. That is the only exception. We can't let companies serve poison food or endanger their employees.
So your support a business only baking cakes for those they wish to right.

Discrimination is a crime so no I do not support criminals. A public business cannot choose who they serve by race, religion, or sexual preference.

More whining. 🥱

GRRRR! Private company making decisions about its product! GRRRR!

GRRR! TYRANNY! COMMUNISM! WHAT ABOUT MY 1A RIGHTS, YOUTUBE?
Yeah, sure wouldn't want any of that public shaming going on - would we?

Private company making decisions about its product!
Interesting.
In my country, no private company, legal entities and individuals can introduce rules, draw up contracts if there are clauses that contradict the Constitution and federal laws.
But in the USA, a capitalist is a slave owner, he can do whatever he wants.

Wouldn't that kind of support the idea that dislikes are more about politically motivated attempts to push down anyone people don't like and therefore aren't very meaningful is determining actual quality. Nothing about this prevents constructive criticism, be that in comments or elsewhere. In general, I don't think we should be encouraging the idea that we can solve any kind of issue (real or imagined) by just disliking a YouTube video.

Why do you progressives rush to defend the richest and most powerful corporations, people and white racists on earth? I mean its like you worship them.
To be fair worshiping a Rich White Racist like Joseph Biden is about equal to praying to an alter made out of cat litter... except all the whitehouse videos have been so cringe they've almost had ratios bad enough to rival the last youtube rewind before the initial attempts to clear the supremely negative thumbs downs which were clearly people watching for 1 second and hitting it not real viewers who would've also done it but known why it should be neg'd... and before all the videos they post having comments disabled you shoulda seen the pure raging hatred that was being spammed it was so bad they had to disable it. And I support it staying censored until Biden does one good thing... just one, anything, give us a clip where he isn't sniffing someone, falling asleep, gaffing, announcing that his buts been wiped, whispering creepily when he is coherent enough to read the script... falling asleep while eating ice cream... anything that doesn't scare the ever loving hell out of those of us who've noticed the whole world outside of America reacting to our leaders inability to do anything becoming of a president.. Trump was a flaming bag of shit but atleast the other nations knew how to work with a blowhard businessman this is just... painful to watch... he cant negotiate so he just says do whatever I'll sign for it... all of this is even sadder when you remember Obama called it "Don't Underestimate Joe's Ability To **** It Up"

However no this isn't bias on youtubes part they know the right and left have mobs who vote based on the mobs desires and not the actual quality of the content or even "content of the content", for an example the Justin Beiber and One Direction video's that were routinely dislike bombed, the only thing universally hated was YT RW and they know it.
