Ladies, open up your vaginas to conservatives, or Trump will be President forever. In particular, open up your vaginas to...this guy!

This article is fascinating. Nearly every part of it says "I've got a giant misogynistic axe to grind," from the cognitive dissonance demonstrated by acknowledging that everybody selects partners based on shared interests while only blaming liberals for it; to the picture of that whore at the top of the article who's looking at her iphone, and you just know she's on OKCupid and she turned you, a conservative, down. There isn't a single square inch of the surface of this article that isn't screaming, "I can't pretend to be a decent human long enough to get a date."

OkCupid will let users indicate their support for abortion. This type of assortative mating is one factor that allowed for the rise of a candidate like Donald Trump.

The popular dating website OkCupid announced Wednesday that it would make the online dating scene a little easier for progressives who can’t risk interacting with someone with whom they disagree (imagine the horror!). They announced a partnership with Planned Parenthood that allows site users to put a badge on their profile signifying support for the nation’s largest abortion provider, much the way Facebook becomes saturated with similar kinds of profile pictures during the newest disaster.

It’s hard to not see this as a reaction to the rise of President Trump, as Planned Parenthood has long been a political football tossed back and forth between left and right, although dating sites have never made such an overt venture into politics. But, in our current bizarre world of politics, this represents a widening chasm between those who are most politically active, causing people to see an opposing viewpoint as an all-out assault on their personhood. The irony is that the type of assortative mating OkCupid is encouraging is one factor that allowed for the rise of a candidate like Trump.

But what if you don't want to date a trump supporter? Jerrod Laber wants you to know that that's okay! But you should be aware that your unwillingness to date a member of the alt right means that you're engaging in political protest and virtue signaling.

If a progressive doesn’t want to date a conservative and vice versa, that’s perfectly fine. Everyone has deal-breakers. But as a political protest, this form of virtue-signaling is counterproductive in the long run.

Sexually repressed and frustrated men are a problem everywhere since that anger manifests itself in all sort of negative ways. Oddly enough the same sexual repression doesn't help things in the Middle East either.
;)

I like how the subtle implication is that these conservative think tanks are fully aware that Trump is an unmitigated disaster they support mostly to just to spite liberals.

But regarding the topic, I don't consider it completely irrational to refuse to date or be in a relationship with someone who doesn't share your political views, especially if they're deeply held and something you're serious about.

If I were single, no way I would date a Trump supporter. I don't even like to talk to them - but date them? Nope.

I couldn't date a Republican - period. Even a normal Republican, like the ones who don't support Trump. I have friends that are Republican, and family members, but dating? No. That'd be a deal breaker for me.

It sounds to me like you want seven more years of President Trump

Hmmm. I don't know if being a Trump supporter would be a deal-breaker for me, necessarily. I guess it would depend if they were super obnoxious about it.

I could see not dating someone because they are a political zealot but to choose whether or not to date someone based only on their political position seems incredibly narrow minded.

There are no political deal breakers for you?

The core disfavorable that is a deal breaker for the rest of
us and OUR women is the “Truman Show,” bubbliciousness
of the Trumpster/Republican minority. They have made themselves
literally of another world with its own history. They delegitimize
any information source disagreeable to them (newspapers of record,
and almost all of the news reporting sources budgeting the most
money to that pursuit financed primarily by advertising)
and they support
making it difficult for women to obtain women’s health service
and birth control and are committed to make it impossible for
women to obtain prompt, safe, legal clinical abortion, even in
the instance of rape or health or life threatening pregnancy complications.

Many conduct themselves as if there is a slickness exception.
They are certain the leaders of their political opposition are
guilty of grave felonies and are too slick to be indicted
and prosecuted and that law enforcement and judiciary
are in on it, exempting these criminals from prosecution.
This is not the stuff of American politics because it is not
American. It is emotional disorder impairing coherent thought
justifying conviction of the opposition without trial.

The certainty of their emotion driven conclusions (they must
be emotions driven, considering the actual absence of
supporting evidence of the crimes, for example, of Slick
Hillary) is self confirming.

The prospect of dating individuals literally chasing their
tales inside an alternate universe is not all that compelling.

Really? That surprises me.

If they were nice enough, and weren't overly-obnoxious about their support of Trump, I maybe could make an exception for that. And if they were cute, that would help too. ;)

But then again, there aren't many gay girls that support Trump to begin with, so I'm probably not gonna have to worry about that if I become single again.

Most Trump supporters could be considered political zealots, though. He is so far outside the norm of what most people consider a regular "Republican."

Trump is a populist, which means voting for him was an act of political protest (a minor detail the stud mcmuffin who wrote the article neglects to mention), so being obnoxious is sort of the point.

My mom was a dem and my father a repub. They were both moderates, though. Back when moderates existed.

I did notice them both trend to the left later in life, with my mom going pretty far out. I'll also note that they got divorced later, but it had zero to do with politics. Things have gotten WAY more extreme on both sides over the last few decades.

Oh, cool. Let's go find a left wing nut job and generalize his stuff to all of the liberal/left.

How about this guy?

Maybe you can cut and paste the part of the OP that suggests that everybody on the right is like the author. But it's no accident that you projected that this was what I was doing since, as <alt>doxygen points out, using a single example to broad brush an entire population is your MO here.

Like I said, political zealotry would be a deal breaker. Zealotry in general doesn't do much for me.

Ah. The syntax of your post was confusing, but I got it now.

Well, maybe. But when I "broad brush" as you call it, I'm usually referring to a prominent member of the liberal/left who has a position of influence and responsibility, like Stelter, who is there with the approval and support of other people on the liberal/left. So it has a lot of credibility.

It's remarkable that you're unable to contribute to anyone else's threads without inserting something about how a liberal said something that triggered you once.

"Sure, taking a single person and broad brushing everybody in a group I don't like is definitely my thing. But when I do it, I do it right!"
