What words or phrases are you so sick of hearing and you hope they die in 2021?

Teleworking. Hate it.

I watch a lot of YouTube (beauty, true crime, legal stuff, etc.). I hear the phrase "these ones" all of the time. I thought it might be a regional phrase, but I've heard people from all over the US, Australia, New Zealand and England say it.

Also ...

"my journey" (unless it's Alexis on Schitt's Creek :) )
"yaaaaaas!"

"Literally."

It's overused literally all the time. 😛

Lean and other "efficiency" programs that use Japanese words.

Netflix and chill and all variations on that ancient goddamn phrase

gaslighting

overton window

How is gaslighting overused as a word? I would like to see less gaslighting, but haven't seen it overused, but ymmv.

and how about that one instead...getting rid of that expression: "ymmv" ?

Maybe it is the media I consume. It just seemed for about four or five months commentators were always accusing someone of gaslighting. I must confess, my wife likes the word, so it may be personal idiosyncrasy

"Ground Zero", in the sense of referring to the site of the twin towers brought down on 9/11.

Before 2001, "ground zero" was both a technical term for the epicenter of an explosion and a metaphorical term for the "area of highest damage" or "area where damage originates" generally. Appropriating the term to refer to a specific location has muddled its meaning enough--especially in the US--that it can't be used in either of its original senses without confusing at least some people.

Fortunately, as 9/11 slowly fades from public memory, the term seems to be reverting back to its original meanings on its own.

anarcho-socialism

heard way too much by me this year from people that are just propagandists and nothing more.

When people use political phrases in a nonpolitical way and have no idea what they really mean is how I mean that last posted word, so it wasn't really political in that sense at all.

another nonpolitical phrase used too much by people that don't really know what it means and it has turned into a political phrase...sort of like an inverse of my previous example of a word or phrase used too much.

patriotism.

In terms of my career, if I hear the word "rigor" one more time....

I'm so, SO tired of hearing the following terms & phrases:
1). [In March 2020]"Two week lockdowns, just to flatten the curve"
2). Covid-19
3). Facebook
4). Instagram
5). Twitter
6). Hyperloop
7). Pandemic
8). "It's racist to blame China for Covid"
9). "Go hang out with your buddies and lots of other people in Chinatown! You don't need masks, because there's nothing to worry about"!
10). Faucci: "Don't wear masks, they offer no real protection"!
11). Faucci, just days later: "You MUST wear masks, because they offer real protection from Covid"!

In terms of my career, if I hear the word "rigor" one more time....

Can it just be edited to "mortis"? Or just "mort"? How about "rig", or "or"? (Lol)
