Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

I think when everyone tried to be the boss, there is chaos...

So the family is a workplace.

At least let it be a workplace where each specialist is master of their own "corner of the shop." As Virginia Woolf claimed "A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction "

Or is a woman on-duty working for her husband and children every hour of every day and every night?

I've taken what? I did win the debate, of course.

You lost my attention, so as a member of the audience I can award you nothing better than a draw in the debate!

The boss has his duties, as well, ya know...everyone answers to someone, even Jesus Christ...

"But I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn, the head of a woman is the man; in turn, the head of the Christ is God." 1 Corinthians 11:3

It's a work in process.

The work analogy is actually a fitting one. Marriages have goals which requires agreement to achieve. The goals can be mutually agreed upon. For instance it might be better for the woman to handle finances because she's better at it than the man. So they talk about it and mutually agree on it. But if a mutual agreement can't be reached how will the bills be paid. That wouldn't be good for the relationship. Someone has to make a decision. Of course even that can be discussed and decided. At the time Ephesians was written it was just culturally accepted that the man would have the final say so. But his decision would still have to be guided by love.

Marriages are worthwhile in themselves, I think. We shouldn't ostracize those without children. But those which do, certainly are better with the "united front" on most things, so after all I can agree on mutually agree goals.

I remember reading somewhere that half of domestic arguments start out being about money. Lack of money is a stressor, so I'm not sure leaving all the decisions to one person would produce good results. I'm more of a believer in compromise, which follows from struggle.

A man and a woman can agree to pay the electric bill which is due soonest, and carry on their argument after that.

It's not culturally accepted now, in fact this kind of talk is repelling the very people who have final say on whether marriage happens or not: women. I'm moved to suggest they flip a coin each Monday and that decides who has the 'final say' for the week.

From Elora's post:
"But I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn, the head of a woman is the man; in turn, the head of the Christ is God." 1 Corinthians 11:3

In the modern world, surely you agree that the woman (not her father or oldest brother) decides if she should marry or not?

Having children is a mutually agreed upon goal. Perhaps something that should be discussed before getting married.

Certain functions within the household can be mutually decided upon. Most of the time they are culturally driven even today. Why is it the job of the man to cut the grass and the woman's job is to wash the dishes and clean the house? Regardless who does what at some point they need done. As I see it Ephesians just highlights who had the final say. Recognition of the fact that someone has to decide, love guides all. Christ (man) loved the church that he gave his life for it. The church (the bride of Christ - the woman) loves her husband enough to accept his loving leadership.

No, the culture is not the same but the principles can still apply. Two heads might be better than one, but if one head wants to go left while the other wants to go right you end up splitting up. Figure it out before you get married.

Sure I don't think the old cultural way of marriage should be mandated. Although I have heard arranged marriages can be successful.

Now you're being childish.
When people start saying they are done discussing, it means I've won and they have nothing more. We were doing good sharing information and our opinions.

They're not literally one flesh, just as Jehovah God and Jesus are not literally one...2 separate beings, being in unity...

Lol - how can it be literal when God is SPIRIT?
But when we speak of "flesh," that would be God as Jesus (in HUMAN form).

Isaiah 54
“For your husband is your Maker,
Whose name is the Lord of hosts;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,
Who is called the God of all the earth.
“For the Lord has called you,
Like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit,
Even like a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected,”
Says your God.
“For a brief moment I forsook you,
But with great compassion I will gather you.

Lol - there it is again!
Our groom, JESUS - is GOD!

Lol - looks like every time you spout off - you end up giving evidence to support Jesus and God are One and the Same! :ROFLMAO:

Seems like this could be about you, Elora!
He knows you love Him.
He might be showing you.
Aren't you hearing Him loud and clear?

Being ONE IN CHRIST, rings a bell?

Galatrians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

I haven't been in any forum where eventually posts are off topic. It's a natural progression.

True, but if you paid attention you might have noticed that every time we took a pause someone else brought it back on topic.

I really don't see the problem as long as it's good information that's being shared. I don't expect people to have an epiphany and immediately believe me and my faith. It took be 14 years to understand and convert.

Kinda like Jehovah God and Jesus Christ are one...in agreement...

WHOA! Wait a minute........

Actually, according to you.....................................THEY DO NO AGREE!
If God is not Jesus Christ, they contradict each other.

Like in this case of being husband and wife.

God claims He is our betroth!

Hosea 2

16 “In that day,” declares the Lord,
“you will call me ‘my husband’;
you will no longer call me ‘my master.[d]’

19 And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy.

Isaiah had prophesied God is our husband!

Isaiah 54
“For your husband is your
Maker,
Whose name is the Lord of hosts;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,

Who is called the God of all the earth.

Isn't Jesus our groom?

2 Cor 11:2
For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since
I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

Ephesians 5
24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

Revelations 19

7 Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.

Which one is our husband, Elora? God, or Christ?

What I hear when you talk...

Is it wrong to proclaim that if women want to, get moral with me, I require not only love and honor, but most especially obedience from my helpmeet.

Not sure what your message means. I don't understand the whole sentence. Is the operative part what I made bold - or does the first half qualify the second half.

What I hear when you talk...

Is hat the kind of childish insult you think your God approves of?

Do you think Jesus would act like you?

So while God was in a physical form there was no spiritual one at the same time?

Why not?
You now also cast doubt that.......................................... God is EVERYWHERE SIMULTANEOUSLY?

Matthew 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

You're saying, not everything is possible with God?

Did you read what I was responding to?
Or, do you just automatically come to support Elora..........even without understanding what she's spouting off? :)

Lol - of course. You don't hear........................... and, you can't hear. :)
You've been deafened by JW.

Isn't this what I've been pointing out?

John 8
43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning,

not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Thank you for admitting it.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying there's no evidence that God and Jesus are the same. If you want to go with the argument that "all things are possible with God" then you'll have to come up with an explanation/argument as to why God waited thousands of years to make an appearance in the form of Jesus. Something prevented Him from doing so. What?
Did you read what I was responding to?

Here's where you're simply confused. I support many of the doctrinal positions that Elora presents, as I should if I believe them to be accurate. You focus on her being a JW and because of that anything she states to you will be mostly contaminated because you assume it's the teaching of JW. I say it doesn't matter what credentials or religious associations a person has. I've spoken with those having both high degrees and associations with acceptable denominations and they still can get it wrong. What do you think the term Pharisee means? Why do you think Jesus refers to some of them as being hypocrites?

Oh boy, now you done it...you must be a glutton for punishment...she'll hound you from now on...😊
