Why Tesla’s Cybertruck has been such a flop

This ugly monstrosity is so unpopular Tesla is having to scramble to find places to store the unsold vehicles.

Tesla has stopped accepting the Cybertruck as a trade-in and has ceased production of some models because they can't keep up with repairs.

Oh also they rust...

Nope. As the news article in Post 1 points out the stainless steel is prone to corrosion from some types of road de-icing chemicals.

It's ugly. That's the main problem. If they had made a moderately futuristic version of an F150-style electric truck, it would have been much more successful. There were probably meetings at which people said, "But it's as ugly as a mud fence. We should make a truck." Unfortunately, the wrong people or person was listened to.

Ugly like a Prius
Toyota has sold 6 million Prius cars. Unlike the Cybertruck it's practical, doesn't rust away and body panels don't fall off.

The Prius is a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, but not an EV.

#1 reason?
They are absolutely butt ugly.

It is amazing that some design engineer came up with that design and some one in management decided to spend money producing them.
The only thing crazier than that is someone out car shopping sees one and decides to spend 10s of thousands of dollars on some thing that ugly.

Ugly, expensive, lots of flaws in fit and finish as well as design.
Musk being what he is only hurts Tesla.
I'm not sure they can ever recover from Musk's political madness.

I don't think they rust. The above is actually a wrap and I'm not sure that video is legit. Stainless steel will not rust like that unless it is subjected to extremely harsh conditions, so to look that bad in a very short time is probably not possible unless exposed to chemicals of some type.

In any case, they are extremely ugly, and I must say that every time I see one in person I wonder what kind of douche nozzle owns it.
Yeah, I've seen them in my area with this wrap (cars don't rust in my part of the country). It's as if someone said "My car isn't ugly enough."

I see those hideous things on the interstate and I just think, why?

The people who buy those things are invariably muscle-bound white guys with beards, no-doubt trying to reinforce their sense of macho. Their previous vehicle was probably a Hummer.
:ROFLMAO:

I noticed the same thing in my area. I've seen a few of them locally, and after reading up on this I can't help but wonder what owners in this part of the country will do to protect their cars since this is one of those regions where road salt is a common thing in the winter.

But it still looks like steaming crap.

I like my current view better. 😄

I'm glad you can't buy this heap of junk in the UK.

People mysteriously gravitated to the VW Bug despite its facist roots.
So it's not always a death sentence for vehicles made by Nazis.
Even my own German Jewish illegal alien father, who took two Nazi bullets to the neck and jaw, bought one, and I later bought it from him, my very first car.

But the venerable Nazi go kart was a cheap practical car, truly a "people's car" if ever there was one.
The Cybertruck is the overpriced underengineered overhyped masturbatory fantasy of the world's most famous fascist incel (yes you can father dozens of kids and still be one)
and its projected market dried up when Elon did his vigorous Seig Heil moves for Donald Trump, our openly admitted anti-Constitution fascist POTUS.

Funny thing about military versions of the Hummer is that swapping a GM DuraMax or Cummins diesel engine into it actually makes it become "slightly" economical, boasting
up to sixteen mpg versus the original AM General's Detroit Diesel choice only netting about nine or ten.
In its last model year Hummer finally offered the DuraMax option but by then the market had embraced the much more civilian H2 and H3 models, where stopping at the Starbucks drive-thru is as close to roughing it as it gets for those owners.
