The Old Media's strongest advantage against Pres. Bush (43) was pressing him to admit he had made mistakes. The Left hammered the meme until well after Bush left office. They argued that Bush was too stupid to recognize his mistakes, or he was too arrogant to acknowledge them. In hind-sight, nobody was clairvoyant, and many mistakes were made. Iraq, the war everybody hated and Sen. Reid said was lost, is largely won, and the war's goals achieved. Perhaps the price was not worth the results, but there are results. The war most people including Sen. Obama supported, Afghanistan, is probably lost. Currently Pres. Karzai and the US are negotiating a shared power arrangement with the enemy, the Taliban. Afghanistan is going down as "peace with honor," A.K.A. defeat. These and many other outcomes were not planned and were the result of some mistakes and misunderstandings. So, why did Bush not admit his team made some mistakes? Will Pres. Obama admit his own Mid-East mistakes?

The answer for Bush's intransigence is the same as for Obama's – he is actually quite politically savvy. Bush knew that the OM press was not interested in his introspection and regrets; the OM simply wanted another cudgel in their war against his agenda. Bush was caught in an unwinnable bind – admitting mistakes was slightly worse than denying them. Either way, the OM was building an anti-Bush campaign to destroy his reputation, so he had no incentive to participate. Once Bush left office, he did admit the mistakes that were obvious, and the OM pounced as he must have expected.

Obama finds himself in a similar position as did Bush. Like Bush, he has badly underestimated the complexity of Mid-East politics and society. As if Obama paid no attention to Iraq, he assumed that revolutions across the Arab world would organically result in greater democracy and peace. The lesson of Palestine cannot be clearer – novice electorates do not make wise choices absent a republican framework.

Obama will not be honest with himself or the people that elected him. It's obvious that Obama has made mistakes and ineptly attempted to obfuscate them. We have seen that by his actions to obfuscate his involvement in Fast & Furious, Solyndra, Benghazi, and now the illegal use of the IRS against Obama's political enemies.

Obama is inflicted with a mental disorder known as narcissism.

That's why Obama has been a complete failure, his narcissism prevents him from putting anyone in a position like a cabinet post where he thinks they may be better qualified or more competent than he is. That's why almost everyone in the Obama administration are second rate and incompetent.

Strong leaders of over 300 million people rarely admit mistakes.

I don't think half of America fell for his BS.

I'm sure some portion did but there was also a pretty large contingent that just didn't want to vote for an octagenarian traitor or a lying cult member.

So they (however many) voted for someone who's a good speaker but, had absolutely no resume to be POTUS?

I do agree there was little challenge in 2008.

Not me, I'm a engineer with a BA in history. Look where it got me. ;- )

But I did take two phycology courses as electives in college just to keep my GPA up. I did get A's taking those classes I compared to basket weaving classes. The title of my term paper was "Phycology, a Pseudoscience" My professor loved it.

Personally I never looked at narcism as a mental disorder but it seems physiologist and psychiatrist do.
We all know narcissist, those who are snobbish or look upon themselves as being better than others.

Narcissistic personality disorder:

>" Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

Narcissistic personality disorder is one of several types of personality disorders. Personality disorders are conditions in which people have traits that cause them to feel and behave in socially distressing ways, limiting their ability to function in relationships and in other areas of their life, such as work or school..."< continue. -> Narcissistic personality disorder - MayoClinic.com

I voted for him in '08 because a scumbag like John McCain was going to become president over my dead body. I also like the idea that he'd be the first black president (yes, I admit it - I wouldn't have based my decision soley on race but since there was no way I was going to vote for McCain and it was clear everyone else on the ballot was an also-ran I figured I'd "be a part of making history").

By '12 he had about the best POTUS resume anyone could have, four years of OTJ experience as POTUS.

I won't argue that he did a good job during those first four years, he didn't, but you can't really hold up four years as governor and "rescuing the Olympics" as being better experience especially when the guy with those credentials was, as I said, a cult member and a creepy ass flip-flopper to boot.

Anyhow, I voted against both of them in '12 (as my avatar suggests) but I know quite a few people who voted for what they considered "the lesser of two evils" and Obama was definitely just that for a lot of people.

I skipped 2008 because I couldn't bring myself to vote for either. (voted the down ticket)

Bottomline is we need better candidates no matter their color or gender. We're in a terrible mess.

snopes.com: Dr. Sam Vaknin - Barack Obama Is a Narcissist

>"President Obama was abandoned by his parents during childhood. Now he exhibits the textbook symptoms of NPD. He thinks his powers are godlike in import; "I have a gift, Harry," Obama once told Sen. Harry Reid. He believes he is entitled to positions of power and prestige. He has never worked a real job in his life, yet deigns to tell the rest of us that he embodies our hopes and dreams. He is obsessed with nonsensical utopian fantasies of one-world peace and harmony in which nuclear weapons are beaten into plowshares.

Obama is an elitist through and through, disdaining ordinary Americans as "bitter [people who] cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them." He is manipulative in the extreme, seeing every crisis as an opportunity to magnify his personal power.

Most dangerous, he requires a constant stream of paeans to his persona. Radical Muslims, socialists, anti-Semites -- so long as they clap, they're worthy of his warmth. Obama strongly resembles a once-abused puppy; he doesn't care who pets him, so long as he receives the petting. '< http://townhall.com/columnists/bens...s_narcissistic_personality_disorder/page/full

>" The narcissistic personality is defined by characteristics such as an inflated sense of one’s importance, unrealistic fantasies of power and success, the need for constant approval and acceptance, and difficulty handling criticism from others. Narcissism is different from healthy self-esteem; people who simply have strong self-esteem can realistically evaluate their shortcomings as well as their strengths. Such people are not likely to describe their impact upon the world in messianic terms, as Obama did during the 2008 campaign when he prophesied that his election would be remembered by future generations as “the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.”

Under normal circumstances, extreme narcissism creates difficulties in personal relationships and at work because of the narcissist’s intense and unrealistic demands for approval and acceptance. When the narcissist works out of the Oval Office, however, the implications become ominous. "<
