Why Left-Wingers Cut Trump Voters From Their Lives

Ideologies of fighting the existential fight or saving the Volk are always dangerous.

I think thats the mistake people make...they feel like there has to be this little narrow box that everyone must fit in. To me, Libertarians believe in efficient and effective government, an emphasis on the Constitution and order...self, state, and country, in that order. They believe in limited government powers...not anarchy. They believe in personal responsibility. The problem is, people want to promote a Libertarian societal model on an existing capitalist model and then imagine that translates to the real world. It doesnt. It cant. Perhaps if you took 1000 libertarian couples and dropped them off on a desert Island they could create a Libertarian Utopia.

those that voted for trump must think that a man that makes fun of the handicapped, gropes women and is a birther is ok....enjoy the next 4 to 8 years with that.

Being a Progressive, Liberal, Socialist, Fascist has nothing to do with social issues, although the Left often uses social Issues to gain power and support.

You are avoiding answering my question.

Looking at any situation or problem and concluding the answer is to give Government more power is what makes a person a Progressive, Liberal, Socialist, Fascist, Communist.

Again, I'm a liberal, and actively fight against Communism and fascists.

Lowdown, does the National Review pay you to just repost its stuff here and call it a day?

Hello, Dude.

Sadly, I get paid nothing. I just have an online subscription to NR that I paid for, so I'm bound to use it from time to time.

It's just that most replies aren't worth responding to.

What a load of, paint with wide brush get paint on self and do bad job.

Oddly enough, it seems that most libertarians accuse other libertarians of not really being libertarian all the time. The 'official' third party libertarians are not the only libertarians out there. It spans the whole ideological spectrum from anarcho-left-libertarians to right-libertarians.

It seems like I became libertarian by default. I don't oppose abortion, oppose the death penalty, etc., so I can't be a conservative. I oppose big government that taxes and spends a lot, so I can't be a leftist. So that leaves libertarianism. But then the hard core libertarians insist that there be no authority at all, which is an impossible pie in the sky utopian vision akin to the socialist utopia.

I don't think you were paying attention. Nobody loves a **** sandwich. Sometimes all that is on the menu is one flavor of **** or the other. You picks your flavor and puts on your best ****-eating grin.

Doesn't mean you're happy about it, or that you approve of **** sandwiches.

Maybe instead of arguing over our preferred flavor of ****, we ought to be putting our heads together to figure out how to avoid being faced with this bad of a choice again.

You do realize that fascists are far right?

Your list doesn't really work.

Right!?!? I suppose the only thing left to do is meet at the tavern and toss back a few tall and frosty's.

Funny, but as I write this, my wife and I are watching Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer on TV. I feel like a Misfit. The King of ding-a-lings. LOL!

progs, by definition, see government as the source of all that is good. We on the right see government as basically -at best-a necessary evil. When the government is controlled by conservatives, the left generally is far more upset than right wingers living under a leftwing regime. To us-such a situation merely means the government goes from mediocre to bad, for the left, losing the election means mother government is now a hostile being.

so of course the progs are going to be far more vicious towards those of us who helped rip the government away from their hands.

None of my leftie friends and family have severed ties over this election.
One of my dearest neighbors is a leftie. He had a Clinton sign in his front yard. He knows I am a Constitutionalist conservative. We didn't end our friendship over this election. Whenever we have discussions, I always refer back to the Constitution. Often those on the right are no better than the left when upholding our laws.
He is a wonderful human being. Kind and caring. If he sees me out doing work in the yard and if he thinks it is something too strenuous he hurries across the street and insists on helping me.

He and hubby stand outside for an hour at a time just shooting the breeze. I plan to get a park bench next Spring and set it out in the shade so the two of them can have a place to sit.

However, I have a leftie on the right of me who has refused to talk to me since I put a banner on my house for McCain/Palin. One day I was listening to a talk radio program while working outside on my patio and he put his radio in the window blaring 60's music. Nobody likes him. He is a jerk with everyone. I just avoid him.

I find that a circle is more applicable than a straight line. Given the state of our politics, I'm beginning to believe I wish to stand outside the circle entirely. I'm with whoever here said it's probably time to go fishing.

Heads up; I got an infraction for saying someone got paid to post here. [still not sure why]

Maybe they're starting to crack down on your fake news? LOL!

Who knows?

When I get dinged, I just take my lumps, move on and just try to do better.

Liberalism is a disease of ignorance.

I think most non-liberals realize that the agendas really do not change much regardless of who is in office. The liberal's on the other hand live in a fantasy world the majority of the time and think this all makes some kind of difference........

I guess you missed the 8 year ****storm of calling Obama an evil kenyan-born muslim tyrant bent on destroying America and enslaving christians. I've never seen more obstructionism, hyperbole, whining and exaggerations than I've seen by the right during Obama's presidency. Even the loudest liberals under Bush didn't go to that level of idiocy.

Perhaps you remember it as conservatives just respected the will of the people and patiently bided their time until the next election?

I think most non-liberals realize that the agendas really do not change much regardless of who is in office. The liberal's on the other hand live in a fantasy world the majority of the time and think this all makes some kind of difference........

And so the great amnesia of 2008-2016 begins. Republicans and conservatives respected the office of the president and that the people chose the other side.

Liberalism is a disease of ignorance.

Conservatism is a mental disorder.

Now that we've dispensed with the ridiculous and nonsensical hackery, do you have anything of substance to say?

This depends on how one describes "progressives". I see the term used completely inaccurately here 99% of the time. For example, as a progressive, your first sentence does not apply at all. Also, conservatives, when the government is controlled by liberals, do exactly what you say liberals do when conservatives control the government. Conservatives want government to control, also. Just in different ways than liberals do.

There are two types of conservatives:

1) Those who use their own hatred and demonization of anything that differs from their positions to define the other side.
2) Those who prefer to ignore their own hypocrisy and ignore changes in society and attempt to moralize and force everyone to adhere to their own views.

So, you are another one. Do you want to continue with the idiotic hackery, or do you want to add something of substance?

Moderator's Warning:
Heads up. You can also get an infraction for publicly discussing Moderation.

This is such an incoherent OP. What does liberals excommunicating conservative family members have to do with "some" "progs" not being for action on climate change? Your OP is literally two sentences, the first one is a wild overgeneralization about "progs" (Amusingly, I don't see you whining about conservatives who refuse to talk to liberal family members), and the second is a complete non-sequitur. At least make an attempt to convey a complete thought, LowDown.

Agreed.

Political Ideology does not get in the way of my friendships and relationships.
