Turns out that much of the health benefit from marijuana is from CBD, an element that doesn't get you "high". So your "soul" would be safe.
Perhaps Tigger's god would say:
Hey, I gave you a simple plant to heal yourself with, and you refused.
You're too stupid to be a part of my kingdom.
Enjoy the option I created for stupid people. Watch the first step though, it's a doozy.
Sorry, but until you can create a version of the plant which cannot in any way or part be used for those sorts of purposes, the plant needs to be destroyed, wholesale. The same reason why I have no use for hemp.
Strains exist that have virtually no thc. Industrial hemp plants have virtually no thc either. And paper alone justifies making it legal.
And bear in mind that strong evidence suggests that cannabis was commonplace while the "morals" you espouse were "developed". An integral part of early cultural development. The earliest known woven fiber discovered was hemp, for example.
I get where you're coming from, even though I disagree with most of your conclusions. But denying yourself useful treatments because the source of that treatment may be abuseable isn't very sound logically. I imaging you get stitches for a bad cut, but I could sew someones mouth shut, so should you reject stitches. Some people eat until they harm themselves and even others. Do you refuse to eat because some people abuse food?
You've got some internal inconsistencies that become evident over time.
Until one can be developed that has NO THC and no capability to be engineered back into a THC bearing strain, I will have no use for it. Obviously we will disagree on the moral development question.
The issue isn't the abuse per se but the fact that one of the most important values in the world is the ability to take care of oneself. Marijuana, alcohol, and many of these other substances reduce, impair, or remove the ability to think and act in an immediate fashion should the need arise. That is what makes them immoral. Actually, I go out of my way to avoid medical doctors as much as humanly possible. I have both a DNR and a Living Will. Every time I go to a new medical facility, I spend at lesat 45 minutes arguing with the administrators there about those two documents. There are many medical things I will not do or use. Among them is any treatment which would be paid for by the Government.
Not really, once you've gotten a full understanding of where I'm coming from.
