Why does Trump insist on using a doctored photo of Garcia's hand tattoos? (1 Viewer)

There would be a better case at labeling him a gang member if there were more conclusive information, since everything's been hearsay to this point.


I hope so, because he is entitled to due process as we would expect for anyone accused of something. The last thing we want is the government having the ability to work out side of the legal system.

I think his due process would amount to nothing more than a hearing at which his earlier special dispensation is revoked, and he gets another airplane ride.

The US Attorney General from Trump's own administration released a report saying he had "no criminal history."

They released a "bombshell report" about the time he got a speeding ticket.

If they had shit on this guy, they would have shown it to you by now.

They wouldn't need much to deport him, which is why it's a little puzzling they didn't take the proper route.
 
The top photo is just him speculating on the possible path of the hurricane, and is not really out of line with NOAA forecasts.

The bottom photo was manufactured, and doesn't depict a real situation. There's no excuse for him to try to pass it off as real.

If anyone thought the letters and numbers in the photo of the deportee's hand were intended to portray actual tattoos on his hand, there's no excuse for them to maintain that false narrative at this point. It's positively Trumpian of them.
At this point, no. At the time Trump posted it that wasn't clear at all because he provided no other context and specifically stated the tattoos on the knuckles which is where the text was.

I'm not so sure about that, because now that this case has gotten international attention, the threats to his life have increased if he returns to the region. It's hard to predict which way this will go though. Either way, he is entitled to his due process.

It was clear to me from the beginning. It's obviously text added to the photo, and there is no attempt to make it appear to be actual tattoos literally spelling out MS-13.

Of course, those tattoos aren't actually associated with MS-13, the labeling is just to make right wing fascists believe that they are.

The more legal way? It's either legal or it's not. There isn't degrees of legal.

The President has the right to expell anyone who is not citizen from our borders. The law is on Trump's side. He does need to justify his reasons to anyone, including the courts. When he was elected he was granted that power.

The courts are playing a dangerous game and they are gambling with their legitimacy. Once that's gone, I am not sure what's next for us.

More "labels". Underneath the tattoos they put "Marijuana", "Smiley", "One (1)", "Three (3)"

It's propaganda put out by the WH. They want you to believe a bad guy (MS-13 gang thug!) was sent away to a foreign max security prison, so it was the right thing to do! And it's working, at least for MAGA.

It's now OK to send people in the US to prison (in a foreign country no less!) without their day in court. They're legal status is shaky, they have a Hispanic name, and they have tats (because all Latinos with tats are in gangs). That's all it takes to send people to prison these days.

It's disgusting. Wrecking the economy is bad enough, and now we have to become a place where people cannot receive due process.

They could have deported him. Bad enough, but at least he has a chance. But to send him to a foreign prison with murderers and rapists without due process is just a step too far.

The Supreme Court with its six Republican chosen justices ruled a while back that Trump cannot be cited for a crime -- like attempting to overthrow the elected government on Jan. 6, 2021 -- if he was conducting official business.

Perhaps they are now sorry for that woeful decision. A lot of Republicans are sorry about the Trump Presidency. The problem is, they are not doing anything about it.

NBC reports, "The Supreme Court in the early hours of Saturday told the Trump administration not to take any action to deport Venezuelan men based in Texas it alleges are gang members.

"The court did not grant or deny an application filed by lawyers for the detainees, but effectively hit pause on the case, which affects people currently held within the jurisdiction of the Northern District of Texas.

“The government is directed not to remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States until further order of this court,” the brief order said.

"Two conservative justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, disagreed with the Supreme Court decision, the order noted."

I've never seen it done here to this degree.

Interestingly, it was the Trump administration that set him free to begin with. Now it feels its in its best interest to disappear him.

The cynicism in this abuse of power is remarkable.
