Some GOPers started out to support Putin in Ukraine, but all quickly discovered that a majority of the public and their voters were against them on this issue. Now they are not just supporting Biden on the issue but going much farther. They now see that they can actually use for political purposes the end result of the very actions they have pushed since they lead to more inflation and higher gas prices. They thus can kill two birds with one stone, back their voters on the issue and cause problems for the Dems.

So......you want us to back sanctions? or you don't want us to? Please, take your pick.

Goper: "We shouldn't have sanctions!"
Dems: "YOU SEE! THEY SUPPORT PUTIN OMG!!"
Also Gop: "We should really be harder on sanctions."
Dems: "YOU WANT TO HURT BIDEN OMG!!!"

lol truly some tribal bullshit here, without ANY care at all as to the consequences of either position.

As the Russians became more cruel, bombing hospitals. etc... The Republicans had to back away from excusing and defending Putin... They had no choice...

If this was a 3 day Russian victory, as was expected, then many Republicans would still be defending Putin... But as it's dragged on, and the Russians have become more desperate and inhumane, even the far right Republicans had to back away from Putin..

Why? The GOP is traditionally anti-communist. I am glad they are going back to their roots where they belong.

They pivoted to fascism after the fall of the Berlin wall. There were maybe a hopeful year with Yeltsin, but that was it.

No amount of soap and water will ever scrub their traitorous Putin love from their bodies.
They made their bed and now they will be forced to sleep in it.

"The poll, released Tuesday by The Economist / YouGov, found that 52 percent of Republicans agreed that Russia was operating under Communism, despite the country not being Communist since the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991. Among all Americans, 42 percent thought that Russia was Communist, including 44 percent of Democrats."

Commies, fascists what's the difference? Americans know their enemies. The ruskies aren't pro-democracy. And if you have followed any of my opinions in this forum you would know that I am pro-Reagan. As always, thanks for your input.

ummm a pretty big difference actually? Communists and fascists aren't the same in terms of political philosophy, although they both killed millions, communism is only a major force in China and American universities....i wonder if there's any relationship between them? hm.

of course the russians aren't pro democracy. Neither is the US. we're a republic. Pure democracy was tried in greece and in failed over night, for obvious reasons.

"To be very specific, the United States could be defined as a “federal constitutional representative democracy.” You might also call it a “federal constitutional republic.”

Yeah. It's freaking amazing to see. When this whole thing started the GOP was holding rallies supporting Putin and calling for the destruction of Ukraine. Then they discovered that Ukraine was full of Nazis and they supported Ukraine. It's all about the Nazis...and Trump...and global warming racists.

That's fair. I think that the Democrats are primarily communist.

Well, their dictator was a KGB agent and wants to reconstitute the old USSR. What would you call them?

Will Trumpsters ever learn the difference between wanting some socialist type programs and being a communist, really? If you can not understand the difference, please do not say it or write it.

Because they recognize the American people are strongly supporting doing more and they don't want the issue to cost them votes in the mid-terms.

They have to work double-time to cough over all those years of being massively pro-Russia and pro-Putin.

Yes, Lutherf, the answer is potato. You got it. The answer is always potato.

How many Nazis?

I don't know....all of them? Except, of course, for all the American Nazis that comprise the bulk of the GOP....and white America in general.

Russia is no longer Communist. But I would be happy to see the GOP abandon their drive to Autocracy and Kleptocracy. In fact a pretty strong case can be made that the Soviet Union abandoned any pretext toward Communism after completing phase 1, nationalizing all assets. They just redistributed them to their buddies. Not quite Communism if you ask me.

It is clearly becoming popular to claim that Biden should be doing more. Biden probably thinks he should be doing more. Saying it does not produce a magic wand to make it happen.

My biggest complaints about the effort to date:
- It took too long to crank EU and Europe up to support Ukraine.
- while it looks like we are steadily supplying military and humanitarian assets now it appears to me that there was a gap in the supply chain that should not have happened
- the whole MIG29 mess was simply abysmal. Yes, Poland started it and EU picked it up. But the US Sec of State is still the US Sec of State. Blinken could have pulled the whole mess out of the prying eyes of the public by responding to questions, "We don't have anything for you on that" when he was first asked

"No comment" means I might be doing something but I am not commenting today. I might comment tomorrow....but not today.

"We don't have anything for you on that" means if we have something to share with you...we will tell you. In other words, DON'T ask tomorrow. Don't ask the day after tomorrow. Keep asking and I will pull your GD press credentials. Instead Blinken told the world that "we are working on that" when asked about the MIG's.....absolutely John Kerry level oblivious

"We don't have anything for you on that" would have told the Pols to shut up, EU to shut up and any other US representative to shut the fugg up and would have told the press corp to leave it alone. Of course not sure if it would have shut down GOP Senate IDIOTS.

Hopefully the effort is still alive to get Ukraine MIG29's having been taken entirely out of the public eye, WHERE IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.
