White Castles vs. Krystals (1 Viewer)

Ladies and Gentlemen.....For the last 26 years, I have been engaged in a furious running battle.

With my wife.

I love my wife, and we rarely disagree on much; but she is advocating heresy.

My lovely little redhead is from Alabama, and swears by the antichrist of food......"Krystals"

I, however, am from the frozen North....we know better....."White Castles".

Well...I have agreed to settle this once and for all with her....by letting YOU decide.

Should you decide in my favor, she will be required to join me in dining at the local White Castle for a minimum of once per month for the times I am at home, for a period of time no less than 6 months...AND she has to wear my sliders tee shirt to bed.

Should you let me down and throw me under the bus of confederate burger carnage....I will have to do the same, but in place of the tee shirt, I must surrender my beloved White Castle coffee mug and replace it with a "Krystals" coffee mug.

SO...what will it be?

I know no one asked, but White Castle and Krystal are really not my favorite fast-foods. Here in Switzerland, we only have McDonalds, Burger King and KFC. When in the US, I go for Carl's Junior for the burgers and to Taco Bell for the delicious and sinful Burritos. White Castle and Krystal burgers seem too "fake" and "chemical" to my taste.

Not especially, I prefer Carl's Junior (known as Hardee's in some places) for their "thick burgers" (or BK's Texas Double Whopper) but was pointing out another place (Little Tavern) that sold sliders by the bag (open late to serve the bar closing crowd) similar to White Castle and Krystal. IIRC, only TN and KY have both White Castle and Krystal establishments - otherwise it's a northeast or southeast only option.

I've always had good experiences at Whataburger myself, though excluding those times when they put mayo on my burger when I said no mayo. Yuck.

I have heard of White Castles, but never Krystals. As such I would have to say White Castle's is more "famous". Never been to either one though. As such I'd vote for White Castles based on that alone.

That is pretty much how I remember them too (from decades ago) - small burger blobs (meat and diced onion?) topped with a dill pickle slice served on a steamed (yep, often soggy) dinner roll. When one was quite drunk and/or stoned and not much else was open then they were seen as acceptable to gobble down. Another important factor was that they only required spending what little cash you (and your partying buddies) had left to buy a bag full (13?) of them.
