What Was The Last Movie You Watched and Rate it!

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Not the first time I've watched it, but fun to revisit, especially since I lived in San Diego in the period the film takes place. Fun gags and silliness. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

On a side note, San Diego was a big small town. There are loads of stories about the news anchors of the various stations. My favorite, as it lends itself to Ron Burgundy's character, is of the number one anchor at the ABC affiliate. She was in contract talks when she came storming into the newsroom to loudly complain about their latest offer. "I wanted the Fourth of July off and they would only give me independence day." The place fell apart.

They are starting filming parts of the sequel here next week, on St. Simon's Island. I may run up and see if I can see anybody. That'd be so cool to see Will Ferrell.

Not a movie, but for the people with Netflix instant, Faulty Towers was just added. Some of John Cleese's best work and something you can watch over and over

Standing Up. A thoroughly enjoyable heartfelt film. Good way to set the day on a positive note. Especially recommended for the kids.

Iron Man 3. The Marvel movies seem to have an knack for recapturing that 80s Spielberg-Lucas vibe in terms of big set piece action-comedy for all ages. Feels like I'm watching Star Wars or Indiana Jones movies for the first time. Very enjoyable flick.

Are movies released earlier where you are, Ben? Cuz here, Iron Man 3 isn't released until May 3. My daughter is driving me nuts over going to see it.

Via Netflix....Surrogates.

Thought provoking......4 of 5

Reviewers get early copies, the scene caps them, then onto the undernet, ftp topsites, torrents and the usenet.

The Book I would have like to seen them make a 3-5 part movie on would be the Silmarillion.

really? I could never even make it through the Silmarillion. I was TDY and driving back and forth from Alabama to Ft Leonard Wood and my wife got me a copy of it on tape. After a couple of hours of listening to nothing but "so and so, son of whoever, begat what's his name who married the daughter of I really don't give a **** and they had 3 kids who were named I forget" I turned it off and never went back

Yeah that book took some getting into. Although once past the beginning and knowing who created who. Plus all the others that were around. It got good til it brings it up to the Lord of the Rings. Sauron was created by Melkor and use to be a like a Demon Wolf. If they made the movie they could get past that beginning part within a few minutes. The dwarves were a bit more pronounced too. Due to the One that made them. Can't remember his name.

WARNING - NERD RANT INCOMING - WARNING

To clarify a bit, Sauron wasn't "created" by Melkor so much as corrupted by him.

Melkor (a.k.a. Morgoth) is basically Middle Earth's version of Satan. He was an archangel who rebelled against God and managed to convince a bunch of other angels to come with him in doing so. Sauron was just his chief lieutenant.

Sauron managed to escape when the rest of Archangels came to Middle Earth and defeated Melkor in order to drag him back to the lands beyond the sea to be imprisoned for all eternity, so he became the new "Dark Lord" on a de facto basis.

Wizards, Balrogs, and possibly even dragons are all supposed to essentially be angels either working for God or against him in Tolkien's mythology.

Phew... Glad I got that out of my system...

Django unchained. i am a Tarantino fan, but some of his movies aren't among my favorites. i consider Reservoir Dogs and Pulp fiction the gold standard of his work.

Django was among his better films. the acting was great, and the vintage feel of the film totally worked. i'd give it least an 8/10; maybe 8.5. i will probably buy the DVD.

I just watched it last night thanks to Netflix. I liked it a lot too. It was similar to a classic “Spaghetti Western”, but with a very big budget.

Yep, I just saw that movie Django.....I thought it was good. 4 Stars out of 5. I like Tarantino Films too.

"The Devil's Own" off Netflix. Brad Pitt is a serious and competent IRA member, Harrison Ford is a straitlaced, likable NY Cop. No shortage of violence and straight up guys, both in Belfast and New York. Interesting twist in that a sympathetic otherwise decent guy is cast as the bad guy with serious personal reasons for his drive toward vengeance. Beautiful, always haunting photography and music of Ireland, the Irish sea and boats in general. Not perfect, but 8 out of 10, bring some Kleenex for the ending. Doesn't matter if you like Brad Pitt or not.

I watched 'Flight' last night. Excellent film! 8/10. Denzel Washington never disappoints. One of the greatest actors ever, IMO, and his performance in Flight is no exception.

Hard seeing him in a moment of weakness, though. Denzel is such a powerful force, and so strong in everything he plays.

Speaking of which, i just rewatched "fallen"

You know, I've never seen that because I'm not a huge fan of John Goodman, but I may have to give it a shot. I love Denzel and also Donald Southerland.

I'm pretty biased towards serial murder movies, but I still think it's well made. Has a great twist as well, so stay away from spoilers

Thanks for the info. I love serial killer movies, and love the ones with a twist even more. I love the ones who make me stand up on the sofa at the end of the movie and be like WUT?!
