What Was The Last Movie You Watched and Rate it!

Barbie had no redeeming qualities except for the lead actress. Currently the hottest women in the world.

IMO the redeeming factor in Barbie was Rhea Perlman.

Every comment you've made (except mentioning audio quality) shows that visual stimulation is the only thing that interested you in either movie. l look for more 🤷

I am a very visual person, that i know.

I also seldom watch moves as they are generally complete garbage.

I like movies like Blue Velvet, Apocalypse Now, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Sucker Punch , Jacob's Ladder, Harvey, Casino, Goodfellas.

This is pretty much a complete list.
I do enjoy many concert films, classical, ballet, opera.

My Dead Friend Zoe

Decent script. Decently acted. Solid message. Probably limited audience appeal.

Ok, then let me know. I plan on waiting for Penguin Lessons to stream anyway.

Wicked is streaming for free on Peacock...I keep meaning to watch it but never do. It's just not that appealing but it's "all over the place" right now.
Saw Penguin Lessons today, also based on true events, but very very different from Penguin Friend. I enjoyed both a lot..

Btw, we watched Wicked. I had to force myself to watch the 2 hrs and 40 mins. See post

The Good Shepard 8

I don't watch many movies.

Knives Out and the Glass Onion were the last two.

I give glass onion 10/10 and knives out 9/10. Both were really good murder mysteries, and managed to be funny without making the mystery silly.

Omni Loop 7+1/10, it was decent enough. Time travel, etc. Reminded me of Ground Hog Day, but for...women. Having said that, one of the 'critics' gave the film a bad review because it 'depicted' women as 'weak'. Which I could not agree with. It depicted women as 'selfless', but militia women are extremist...and dumb. Just for that review, I add +1 to original score. A decent film.

The Quiet Earth, 9/10. It's free on tubi. I won't post the trailer because it gives the movie away, but just watch it, if you are a fan of science fiction. You will love this film.

"Newtopia," a Korean zombie apocalypse film that takes the genre to a new level. Watched it last night after work. It stars, Jisoo, the Korean pop singer known worldwide as Blackpink, who pulls off a touching performance. This one is tear-jerking and horrifying at the same time. Not a big movie watcher, but this one I was glad to have recommended.

Last night, I watched The Order, the 2024 movie about the Far-Right White Supremacist organization that robbed banks and carried out assassinations in the 1980’s. Great movie. Nicolas Hoult, who plays Order leader Robert Jay Matthews, and Jude Law, who plays the FBI agent seeking to bring him down, gave their career-best performances.

One To One....8/10. It was a very interesting documentary and really brought back memories of that time.

An Officer and a Gentleman (1982)

This is one of the greatest romantic movies ever made. Richard Gere, one of my favorite actors, gives his career-best performance as Zack Mayo, a naval aviation officer cadet with a troubled past, and it’s nothing less than a crime that he wasn’t even nominated for the Best Actor Oscar. Debra Winger, who plays Zack’s love interest and WAS nominated for Best Actress, gives one of her most memorable performances. But the real standout is Louis Gossett Jr. as Zack’s drill instructor, Marine Gunnery Sergeant Foley. Gossett won a well-deserved Oscar for Best Supporting Actor (the first African-American to achieve this feat), and his portrayal of GySgt Foley is even more impressive than R. Lee Ermey’s much-celebrated performance as GySgt Hartman from Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket in large part because Ermey had served as a Marine drill instructor in real life while Gossett had never served in any branch of the military. An Officer and a Gentleman also contains what has got to be my favorite movie ending; I’ve watched it countless times, and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

Schindler's List (1993)

The very best and very worst Holocaust movie ever made.
5/5

Absolutely one of my top movies. Incredibly realistic
Cinematically speaking, this movie a dagum masterpiece. But it also perpetuates the pernicious stereotype of Jews as weak, passive victims who need Gentiles to save them. This might not have been a big deal if Schindler’s List was just one of many Holocaust movies. But it’s the most popular and critically acclaimed Holocaust movie of all time and is shown in schools and colleges across the country. It’s ironic because Steven Spielberg is Jewish, and yet he made a movie that focuses on strong Gentiles while Jews are portrayed as quiet, meek, and fawning. They’re also portrayed as merchants, accountants, and smugglers, which are anti-Semitic tropes. As someone who’s been reading about Jews for three decades, it makes me cringe.
