What no American should ever say to another

I think that the IDEA of communism is very idealistic. In theory, it is does not have to result in what happened in Russia or China or Cuba or Vietnam or North Korea.

In practice, however, it always leads to brutal dictatorship.

I have read that for ten years after the Reds took over China in the 1940s, idealistic young people of the Revolution really did a lot of good for the common people.

But then the inevitable happened: Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. While people were starving to death later on, Chairman Mao reportedly was eating lobster and enjoying the company of female "friends."

So I guess Sir Winston Churchill was right: Democracy is the worst form of government except that the other forms are even worse.

P.S. Surely, everyone deserves a trial, even Reds. Of course, even in a democracy, we often know what the verdict will be.

Have a nice day!

Yes, in principle Communism is fine, but as you point out no political system is ever free of corruption. If it were within my remit I would forbid donations by interested parties to politicians, I would ban negative advertising smearing your opponent, I would give each candidate equal air time to tout their policies and put a cap on election spending. Take the bribes and theater out of electioneering and you might actually end up with an honest and ethical election process when the playing field is levelled. Buying one's way into power is about as unethical as it gets, considering the obscene amounts of money spent on outdoing the other guy.
Let politicians fight it out with policies, not ridiculous light shows and smoke machines.

Of course it is. Plus the added bonus to that would be that once these handful of people left, we wouldnt have to listen to dishonest, ignorant liberals calling everyone they disagree with fascists.
Will you be leaving along with other fascist Trumpsters?

Nope, The first amendment gives me the right to say IF YOU DON"T LIKE THIS COUNTRY, LEAVE. I may not like what anyone says to me, but I do like the fact that I can say anything I want back.

I you want your freedom of speech right removed, I would prefer you visit another country and see if you like it before limiting my rights.

To enlarge on what brought this about it, we'd been hanging out for weeks on end because I'd run across him in the courtyard where he'd be playing dominoes with his other buddies. Wife was in the hospital for a long stretch and I'd wander out there when she was sleeping.
He's quite the character, Vietnam Vet.
He's NOT even remotely a liberal by any stretch.
In fact I have to take a lot of crap from him because I am one but it's all good. :)

And it just came up...
"So what you're saying is love it or leave it?"

He said Hell no, get off your ass and do something about it if you don't like it, "I hate those love it or leave it assholes."
That's pretty much the gist of it.

Later he said something to the effect of there's always some drunk **** know it all who stands up and says "if you don't like it here you can leave" and that's when I used to walk up and knock em out.

"It's a bullying tactic."

"Yeah, and they usually don't have anything to back it up, and down they go." (laughter)

It's not like it was a deep political conversation, just guys sitting around playing dominoes and talking smack.

You are right, hitting people you don't agree with is a bullying tactic.

There you go with the straw man again.

Just because you have a RIGHT to say "X," doesn't mean you SHOULD go around saying "X."

It also doesn't mean the people who disapprove of your saying it want to take away that right.

Get it?

Who in England has been imprisoned for having opinions people don't like? Name them, because I smell bullcrap. I live in England. You do not, so quit lying.

You are kidding right? England arrests, on average, nine people every day for posting "offensive online messages." Your Labour MP Lucy Powell would ban internet forums like this one because she says, "hate speech can fester in these echo chambers." England declared war on free speech.

More than 3,300 people were detained and questioned last year over so-called trolling on social media and other online forums, a rise of nearly 50 per cent in two years, according to figures obtained by The Times.

It is pretty sad that someone half-way around the world has to enlighten you on how fascist left your England has become.

Yes, incitement to violence or terrorist acts is 'hate speech'. America requested us to extradite one such person for that reason; Abu Hamza, currently languishing in one of your jails.

There is absolutely no reason to argue that "leave' shouldnt be one of the options. If you hate it here, leave. Nothing wrong with saying that whether you are discussing a party you are at or the country you happen to live in.

So leave.

You have no idea what you're talking about. America demanded we extradite one Abu Hamza, currently languishing in one of your jails, for exactly the same reasons. Inciting hatred.

Free speech comes with responsibilities you see.

So leave.

Same challenge to you that I made to the other dishonest liberal poster. Maybe the two of you could join forces in your research efforts since you both made the same ignorant comment.

Why should I leave? Oh, I get it now. You are accusing me of being a fascist. Well Ive got 26000 posts here, so how about you find one that in any way supports fascism in any form. Ill wait.

Your beliefs do not match my subjective view of what true American beliefs must be, therefore you should leave the country if you hate it that much.

Sound like an incredibly stupid argument? Yeah, we all thought so too when Trump and his cronies made it.
